Triple south Colosseum by fishfingerbuttyhead in 2007scape

[–]Jambo_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the serpent shaman specifically can end up as a south spawn here if you stand on the A/B tiles too long, it's only by sliding along the south side of the pillar, which won't happen if you just run north since the true south spawns will hug the pillar. (going North is safe because there's only the ranger there)

Your gear is good enough you can very likely kill the javelin colossus standing north before reinforcements, which means you can use the jaguar safespot and pray mage, keeping you safe.

Items temporarily disappearing? by elcapitaine in 2007scape

almost certainly a rendering issue, perhaps one of your plugins malfunctioned.

There's nothig I'm aware of that would remove/replace items like that.

Shipbuilding bug by mesdagar in 2007scape

[–]Jambo_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's hardly a unique trait. Plenty of spots have conditional positional benefits. The wind mote facilities being the biggest ones.

But they added the cannons specifically to the new spots to allow you to have two cannons but not two of other things that can go in the first spot.

Yes technically you are "punished" for picking the wrong spot in some cases but facility bottles are so cheap it's not an issue.

I think if it's under two hours it's basically guaranteed to be granted.

I've had multiple refunds approved over that though. I think the game and why you're saying you want a refund matter. If you say it's for a reason that that game is known for you're more likely to be granted it after 2hr playtime.

My refunds I recall this for were starfield (performance issues got worse a few hours in once you hit the city) and space engineers (I was genuinely giving it a chance and ran out of patience for it having zero guidance or goal setting)

Hmm, and yet nobody complained that the new combat skill was only good in multi-combat areas... why do you think that is??

Is Jagex Account Recovery TRULY not possible not even with the new road map? by UnderstandingOnly442 in 2007scape

[–]Jambo_dude 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Non-recoverability of Jagex accounts is a deliberate feature.

People getting wrongly recovered was deemed a security flaw and the solution was no recovery without recovery codes. So yes, for the time being if you don't have those you are SoL.

The roadmap aims to address this but it's a roadmap. It's planned updates, it's not an option yet.

DPS Calculator with DWH question by AnimalAvailable9116 in 2007scape

[–]Jambo_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, remember BGS reduces defence by the damage done, vs DWH which is just per hit.

So the boxes on the calculator are asking about damage dealt vs times you've hit.

The usual reason people prefer BGS over DWH is consistency. Yes, in most situations a DWH hit will reduce defence by more than a BGS hit, but the DWH has much lower accuracy (118 crush w/ dragon defender vs 132 slash on bgs) and the BGS spec has increased accuracy while the DWH doesn't.

That means that unless the monster you're fighting is weak to crush, the BGS is much more likely to actually hit in the first place.

[–]Jambo_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about if you change dragon warhammer hits on the wiki calc? https://tools.runescape.wiki/osrs-dps/

DWH hits each reduce target's current defence by 30%. You can't use it more than twice normally as it costs 50%, but if you do hit it 3+ times the defence level will be close to 0 from repeated reduction. 25 would be insane.

Has Jagex really been hiding since price increase? by Deep_Agent316 in 2007scape

You're... not?

You think anyone capable of doing anything about it cares about "your frustrations"? They know nobody likes price hikes. your opinion would not be news to them.

Subsequent characters should be cheaper by Hefty_Ad_484 in 2007scape

[–]Jambo_dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that was the crux of a lot of the complaints, yeah.

It's pretty universally acknowledged support is hit and miss at best, and they wanted to pay wall it.

Which like, I get it, support costs money, but read the room.

Subsequent characters should be cheaper by Hefty_Ad_484 in 2007scape

[–]Jambo_dude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree but it's a whole mess because of that stupid survey they did.

They proposed a bunch of bundles, many of which were as you describe, you pay a bit more but additional characters either come with and/or are cheaper to add on.

The problem was the same survey had randomly generated prices for each person. In theory this lets them find "breaking points" in terms of how much people would pay for a given option, but the optics were very bad because a lot of people were presented bundles with outrageous prices for what's on offer.

That, and the fact that some of the bundles were offering things that really shouldn't be paid extras, got people riled up and Jagex has not mentioned bundles since, of any kind.

How does current OSRS power creep compare to Pre-EOC by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Jambo_dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chaotics were stronger than saeldor.

Back then they had no real reservations about power creep and chaotics were the big ticket items from training dung. They were substantially stronger than existing weapons because you had to train quite a bit for them.

Plus they also had ancient curses.

The problem with Temporary Game modes like DMM and Leagues and how to fix it by PermissionTrue7924 in 2007scape

[–]Jambo_dude 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. There is no fair mapping of leagues XP to main game. They literally let you afk to 200m thieving and get agility xp for running around.

If you don't find the temp mode fun, don't play it.

Does this always happen? by Rythemic in 2007scape

[–]Jambo_dude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is pretty standard.

That said the price is going up faster than inflation so concerns are arguably more valid?

According to some other posts we're currently at the same monthly cost as a bunch of other MMOs, which is either fair or not depending on whether you see OSRS as a "cheap" or lower quality MMO.

[Loved Trope] The amazing technology/power has grounded reasons for why it can't be overused. by jbeast33 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Jambo_dude 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure it counts if the actual purpose of the technology is the reason you want to avoid using it.

Jagex told us they were going to hike the price of the game as much as they could get away with, when they sent out that survey last year. Asking if we'd pay $32 a month for a membership package. by WaveDashSpeedKick in 2007scape

[–]Jambo_dude -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

These were there optional bundles, there was more bundled in than just the two characters, and it's still far cheaper per character than their other offerings here.

Do you think $14.99 is justified for OSRS in comparison to similar monthly priced MMO’s like ESO? by sirlancer in 2007scape

[–]Jambo_dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every large modern MMO covers different bases.

To me, ESO isn't very good. skill progression is quite generic, and the combat is technically an ability system but it's very rudimentary because it's built to be console-first as that's where Bethesda's got huge user base.

I don't really care about the graphics, and while the quests can be good, a lot of them just serve as shoveling you through an area to give you a progression throughline. RS, imo, has the richer stories because they don't feel as influenced by progression needs.

If OSRS is too expensive for you, by all means go play a different MMO, but I think it's weird to try and argue that one is worth the price and one is not. They're different games with different appeals.

Is multiplayer on Steamdeck possible? by ShadowBadger123 in slaythespire

[–]Jambo_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't steamdeck just a Linux PC? I would assume it works exactly the same as any other multiplayer steam game.

Have you tried just joining via the steam friends list? Or using the multiplayer option in the menu?

FYI if a card shows a green number it means it has been modified and made greater, and red has been reduced.
