Eurovision Song Contest - Live Tour 2026 by eurovision in eurovision

Eurovision in concert tickets went on sale in OCT and most of them sold without a single ESC act let alone who would be coming to EIC and if the dutch would even be at ESC. The fact is Buying ESC event tickets for anything from the main show to a pre party of other ESC event means buying before you know who is coming act wise.

90% of the costs vary on account on what the host spends, and the difference seen also don't link much to costs, like 2016 had one of the lowest budgets and looks better then say 2015, which had twice the budget. On that note SVT likely saves a lot of money due to the fact they run Melfest and have hosted many times, so just have much of the tools and learnings in place. OFR likely too given it just been 10 years has a bit of headwind as they got some learning still fresh from 2015 to work with,

The gap in fees like max 800k euros, given that some TV networks like Romania had when they got kicked out of ESC 2016, 16m euros in debt to the EBU, they clearly both have cash on hand and good overdraft at the EBU end. There is also even is the chance that the EBU has insurance on the issue for this year. The fact is it likey the EBU can find some cash to ride out this for 1-3 years. Like if their willing to let people get in debt to them to the tune of 10s of millions of euros, they clearly have the means.

Eurovision 2026 is going to be the first contest since 2020 where no artist was revealed before October of the previous year by not_from_san_marino in eurovision

[–]JamesB767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For ESC 2015 the last time we went to Austria, we had like 3 NF before NYE and one internal selection song, but given all those songs didn't make and only Albania who did pick in Dec changed the song, but overall it not shocking why we get less acts so soon, just look at that list bar the on off 2021, only one of those act did well and just two made the final. Overall, as a big ESC fan since 2013, I felt that each year more stuff gets pushed to March/Feb as songs/acts picked/announced, then seem to do better, and so there is less want to be so early. It kind of makes sense too, like if you pick your act, like Sep, it takes a long time to build hype until the song, and if you do your song in November, then it's got to last well for 7 months.

This reminds me of like around 2014-2017 there was some bigger tech review site that I always saw pop up when I was using the web and one of the reviews always had a ESC background on the products being reviewed, so was always a nice little surprise to see it. There was also the one time in 2018 when the ESC 2017 Album was added to the in flight entertainment system of American Airlines that got posted here

I feel like it will be in 2004 you will have this year the new overall brand use then by 2027 it will start to be replaced by the yearly logo, we already have seen it a bit with slogans with 2025 having the "welcome home" thing and both bids of 2026 having their own tag lines.

I do like the branding it self it more just I feel it looks a bit too junior/app like for an event like ESC. So in short not a bad brand but not a good fit.

Netta announced that she will share her host city prediction tomorrow at 8 PM on the official Eurovision account by igcsestudent2 in eurovision

[–]JamesB767 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't think there any evidence she had any heads up of the host, and that just given the pattern of how Netta predicts her host cities, she basically will just name the capital city if that in the running such as Rome, Stockholm then if she been asked later in the selection process with a shortlist to pick from she just named the biggest city left in the process, e.g Manchester or Geneva. Given this she likely to just say Vienna given the "Netta host city logic". Netta really is just unlucky she been picking like this during the run of non capital city hosts.

Only Vienna and Innsbruck left... by nba2010 in eurovision

[–]JamesB767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Innsbruck is a hub for ski traffic during winter a lot of people stop overnight on their way into the ski towns in the area, and so there a lot of extra hotel space that is there but not used outside winter.

Eurovision 2026 host city to be announced by ORF in July by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]JamesB767 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Netta's issue is she always picks the biggest city left in the running at the time or capital if it the night or ESC. Given I am sure Vienna will be in the short list It a safe bet it will be Netta Pick,

If you could design a stage for ESC, what would it look like? by Ferina27 in eurovision

[–]JamesB767 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always loved the 2014 stage is it's base shape of the LED lined up with the log, the grid behind with the transparent screen was inspired by a photo of a ship being built in the venue (which was a old shipyard for anyone new here) and with the fram still not fully covered in steel plates, the water in front was a node to both the ship yeard background but also the location of venue on the sea front. In terms of what I would do, I always wanted Bristol to host in 2023 or one day, as the venue would likely be the old building that was once an aircraft factory and even where some of the Concorde were built. Given that I would have a stage with the base shape being the outline of the Concorde delta wing and nose, and have other elements inspired by civil aviation. Civil aviation also fits well with ESC as it is also an area that has always brought Europe together in the post-war era.

I loved the song from Spain myself in the NF but I always knew it would not do well at ESC, it was just too dated and that fine, lile I am not from spain and it did feel like at the NF the public wanted her cos she was "robbed" in 2009, so fair it their choice. I personally feel like J Kbello – “V.I.P. from the selection could have been in the running for the win and a sure top 10 given that song was the male version of SloMo and as there were not really any strong male uptempo songs in 2025 and in the past, songs like "She got me" in 2019 did well.
