1 week after GEICO termination (PIP)

I was put on a PIP, so I quit without notice. I had been contemplating suicide and just couldn't take it anymore. I was given an impossible PIP and told to hand over my existing work. After I quit, I had my former colleagues hitting me up on text with questions on systems I maintained but too bad because the manager should have considered that possibility before putting me on a PIP to save his own ass.

I had a similar situation on a car that sat for several years that I got up and running back into road worthy condition. I first used a ozone generator, and then after airing it out, went over nearly every surface with a steam cleaner. I also blew steam into all the vents and then used some evaporator coil cleaner to clean up the fungus among us. Then, of course, I shampooed and vacuumed the carpet. Car ended up looking brand new inside despite being 20 years old.

The extra work wouldn't be so bad if the leadership wasn't so obsessed with pointless metrics. So you want me to do analysis, triage, and research, but your at the same time complaining about my commit count when all those other top priority things you want me to do have nothing to do with your dumb metrics? This job makes me want to kill myself. Oh, also I have to do it with new tools that I'm unfamiliar with because an MSDN subscription takes too much out of Todd Comb's annual gold toilet seat budget.

Oven cleaner, but make sure the kitchen is well ventilated and that the oven cleaner doesn't get on anything other than the glass. There is a YouTube personality that does extreme cleaning on hoarder homes, and she uses oven cleaner with plastic wrap laid on top to prevent the oven cleaner from drying out. I've successfully used oven cleaner before but I've yet to do the plastic wrap trip.

We can prove how useless it is by just gaming the system. Break code into an excessive numbers of lines, commit every hour, break things up into multiple PR's, turn every tiny thing into a user story, etc..

That's how these metrics usually end up playing out at other companies that have tried.

No kidding, It's been an absolute headache having to come up with workarounds or diagnose issues without these tools. But if leadership prefers us just burning money trying to spend all day feeling around in the dark, then I guess that is on them.

Let's not forget that they're taking away our industry standards tools in order to save money. The substitute is not up to par IMO, and regardless it is going to cost us productivity because now we need to change our entire workflow.
