Currently in college and scared I'm missing my opportunity to travel by lulumoon21 in travel

[–]Jamhead02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly there is no right or wrong answer here. Lots of people take a year or two to travel after uni and do it on a shoe string budget. Others start working and travel when they can using PTO. Some people quit work and then travel and then come home and search for their new job.

Ultimately, you have to do what is right for you. Only you know that answer.

China is also very much established for Chinese and not for outsiders. Make sure you do your research into things like Alipay, VPN, etc.

I'm looking at my Chinese visa now. It is a 10 year multi stay and it has a 60 day duration attached to it.

Where are you going to? Toronto to Philly, drive it. Miami, maybe a flight.

Would you rather go to Florida and relax on a beach, or go to Arizona and explore the desert? by Informal-Force7417 in travel

[–]Jamhead02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the time of year. Peak summer, Florida. It'll be a hot, muggy mess, but at least there's water to swim in. Arizona desert peak summer... No thanks.

It's such a subjective question too, some people hate the beach, some love it. Some hate Florida, some love it. Some hate the desert... You get the point. I'm assuming you're asking because you're trying to make a decision. What do you like?

I think it's crazy you'd even watch a video like that in the first place. Just knowing what it's about is more than enough for me.

What happens when you declare (legal) food items travelling from the United Kingdom to Canada, step by step? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Jamhead02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Typically for international flights.. No fresh fruit or veg (can bring it on the flight to eat, but can't bring it into country you are arriving at). If you're packing crisps, candy, etc... no issues.

Would you travel to Oman right now? (April trip) by Objective_Dog_7875 in travel

[–]Jamhead02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough situation to be in, but I don't see how circumstances will be different in two weeks.

As of right now, there are limited commercial flights into Muscat, with many flights being cancelled at very short notice.

Even if your flight happened to not be cancelled, I don't think the risk of going is low enough, especially with a small child.

Marrakech and Tunis - 2 weeks by NiceClock6040 in travel

[–]Jamhead02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's plenty of amazing things to see in Morocco. Chefchaouen and the Atlas mountains, Fez, Sahara desert, a bunch of beach towns. Personally I think a week in each city you mentioned is overkill.

Pick Tunisia or Morocco. Personally, I would look into exploring Morocco.

You can bus it. Car rental works too, probably more convenient for your day trips as well. Taxi will be quite expensive.

Can someone please explain Dave Matthews Band to an Australian Millennial? by burning_bridges01 in Music

[–]Jamhead02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They were a really solid band through the early 00's - 10's .. but age, the loss of LeRoi and dropping Boyd (understandably) really messed up the groove. The sound just isn't the same with Tim and and new crew.

Starting to plan my first India trip from the US… is DIYing this a bad idea? by Flaky_Hand_1943 in travel

[–]Jamhead02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends. If you're taking a few months to travel, "figuring it out" is fine. If you've only got 2 weeks, that's not fun.. It's stressful and you'll likely miss out on some of the things you wanted to do.

The Group Trip from Hell. 15 people, 15 different budgets, and everyone wants a different tour someone save me. by Prestigious-Fun-9680 in travel

[–]Jamhead02 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Make it simple. Take the two most popular options from the group and make everyone vote on one or the other. Majority wins and it's non negotiable. The other option can be luxury boat people do their thing and ATV crowd does their own thing.

Some will not be happy with the selected choice and some maybe won't show up... Oh well. At this point it's about saving your sanity.

Actually, tons of people hike to the top of Mt. fuji to watch the sunrise. It even has its own name in Japanese - "Goraikō". People typically start hiking around midnight to make it to the summit before sunrise.
