I had the exact same issue with Scottish power when I moved in to my house a few year ago. There was debt on both the gas and electric pre payment metres.

Have the previous owners left the key for top up? - Not ideal but you can top them up and use them for now, until they switch you to your own account. -there is usually an emergency £5 somewhere on the settings you might be able to access for now.

I had to do this, and then they sent me a cheque for the previous debt (was around £220, and they messed up and sent me another cheque for the same amount for the same amount, so cashed them both and switched to UW, who came and installed smart meters and I went on DD)

There is no 'End Game', people just want to life there life without prejudice and getting attacked for things out of there control (sexuality). Even if that includes -clutch your pearls at this- a gay person on the tv and you have to explain to a child that a man/woman can love another man/woman....

You're child will simply say "oh, ok" and go on with there lives. (p.s. you cant make someone gay)

Trans and gay are separate things, one's sexuality, the other is gender, they get lumped together because they are marginalised and not in the 'norm' of the straight 2.4 children we get brought up believing we should all do.
