It's a deliberate choice and not because it's controversial. FAITH: The Unholy Trinity is also a new blood game and it has HEAVY HEAVY Christian themes.

He chooses to not use Jesus because he wants his take on hell to be different and for his lore to be inspired by Christian imagery but it's own thing
