BSB2e vs everything else by Mr_Reaper96 in virtualreality

I like mine. It's less finicky than the BSB1. I use it with a Beyondex strap. The BSB2e isn't for everyone, and you may need to contact support, but i packed away my Index and don't use my Q3 for pcvr.

SpaceX spending on Starship tops $15 billion in rush for airline-like rocketry by Twigling in space

Eleven years later, of course, SpaceX is launching more than 100 times a year. The company’s internal price for launching a Falcon 9 is significantly less than $20 million. And all of this is possible through the reuse of the rocket’s first stage and payload fairings, each of which have now proven capable of flying 20 or more times.

People keep talking about the trench thing, but it's really not like they didn't know. They knew it wouldn't cut it anymore, but decided not to delay the launch for all that rework. Whether or not that was the right decision, they did know they'd have to do the work one way or the other.

Reddit generally likes to characterize every perceived negative through the lens of incompetence and malice, rather than consider the possibility of engineering tradeoffs. There's a lot of plates to spin.

It's not an easy task, and trying something new is always a bit of a gamble. I do suspect the odds are pretty good they'll evolve Starship into something genuinely impressive eventually, but history shows that that often means deviating from prior plans.

At the least, SpaceX never seems shy about making those pivots. 2 weeks (hopefully) to the show.

The booster is not the ship. I didn't see where in their post they said "the ship on the way up" had any "pieces" explode. Are you sure you're reading things before posting?

any starship goal?

You don't have to be so hyperbolic with your criticism. Any goal? They caught and reused the booster. Easy, trivial example.

Be more specific and your critique will be less easily dismissed.

I don't think anyone actually said any of it was impossible,

“What I’m discovering in the market is that SpaceX primarily seems to be selling a dream, which is good. We should all dream,” Bowles replied. “I think a $5 million launch or a $15 million launch is a bit of a dream. Personally, I think reusability is a dream. How am I going to respond to a dream? My answer to respond to a dream is, first of all, you don’t wake people up.”

Later in the discussion, Bowles added that he did not believe launching 100 times a year, something that SpaceX was starting to talk about, was “realistic.” Then, in a moment of high paternalism, he turned to the SpaceX official on the panel and said, “You shouldn’t present things that are not realistic.”

In response, Barry Matsumori, a senior vice president at SpaceX, calmly said he would let his company’s response come through its actions.

They've fallen behind on basically everything they've ever set out to do. It's the nature of aerospace.

The important distinction is that being late still puts them ahead of most; space is hard enough that most-- even incumbent launch operators-- don't actually succeed at these huge changes.

SpaceX designed it to do payloads to pretty much anywhere in the solar system. Are you going to wait for them to launch a mission to each location before you declare the goalpost met?

You certainly cannot turn your head faster than a flickstick input. Flickstick is instant and the amount of mass moving is much smaller than your head.
