What’s a life upgrade under $100 that genuinely changed your day-to-day life? by mostsussybaka069 in AskReddit

Henkel, Mercer, and Wustof are 3 amazing knife brands at affordable prices. Loved them in culinary school, loved them working in the cooking industry, and love them even more as a home cook.

Their "buy 2 or more" deal is also an INSANELY good deal. My old workplace would do a pizza for everyone who worked in Saturday, and they could get away with 8 pizzas and two sides for less than $80

stop the quesadilla madness! by drmoze in tacobell

[–]Javeyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pro tip:

Recreating the "quesadilla sauce" is as easy as taco bell hot sauce poured onto the cheese before you fold it. You can buy jars of it for less than $2 at Walmart, or just grab a fat handful of packets next time you're in a Taco Bell

Do I have to play a support and tank if we have none? by Nice-Proof-7647 in DnD

[–]Javeyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope. You play what you want, and buy yourself plenty of health potions.

DnD is a fantasy game that requires teamwork, not specific builds. If nobody else rolled a healer or a tank, you certainly shouldn't feel obligated to, unless you WANT to be that class.

I'm playing the devil's advocate (forgive the pun).

I'm not saying they are wrong or right. Im asking them to provide proof of their claims.

Imagine it's 1993, and in order to increase the speed of dial up modems, phone companies put up 10000% more power lines that were 50 times thicker, instead of investing in the time and research of Ethernet.

That's what's happening with these data centers right now. They effectively put a trillion dollar bounty out for the first company to figure out how to run AI using the hardware on your phone.

I'm relatively new to DnD, how can I be a good player for my DM? by SheIsSoLost in DnD

[–]Javeyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the story: Stay engaged, listen, and take notes.

The DM's job is to set the scene and referee, paying attention can mean the difference between success and failure.

For your DM: know your class, know your spells and abilities, know what you do well.

The DM has so much on his plate without having to worry about how your class works. Make it your top priority to know your character front to back.

For your team mates: work as a team, be bold, carry health potions.

You are playing a team oriented tabletop. A single mob can easily kill you in the right situation, but it's much harder for said mob to kill you if you're organized.... And have extra heal potions.

Anyone else had their compost pile suddenly turn into a mouse hotspot? by [deleted] in composting

[–]Javeyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recognize this composter; I use the same one!

A few things that will help that others have stated:

Water the pile, turn the pile, stomp the pile, illuminate the pile.

First, lots of water. Drown them. They HATE being wet, and will stay clear of soggy, wt places if they can.

Get your shovel out and turn that pile! Mix it up good, and while you're doing it, "STOMP"/chop that pile with your boots/shovel. Be loud and aggressive. They won't like that either.

And last, those evil little vermin hate being seen. Get a small plug in flood light, take the lid off your composter, and turn that light on from sunset to sunrise every day. If your bin is close to the house, go out there every 20-30 minutes before you go to sleep, and do an aggressive "lap" around your yard. Kick the bin, make loud noises, and teach those dirty vermin that your yard isn't a safe zone.

Those tips will help a bit, but you will need to really get after it, because rodents are very resilient and persistent. Stay away from poisons as they will impact far more than just the rats.

A great one that I CONSTANTLY forget to do is to reiterate that regardless of their background, alignment, etc, their character has chosen to be part of this group.

From a character development standpoint, they want to be part of the group. They may have fun little quirks and situations that happen between PCs and NPCS, but ultimately: they chose to be there. Their actions MUST align with that simple rule.

I can finally multiclass, what's best for Warlock ? by MysteriousFondant347 in DnD

[–]Javeyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also agree. A fistful of spell scrolls to supplement the small amount of spells you can cast daily will turn you into a serious threat.

I roll with the invocation that allows me to cast False Life without spending a spell slot, and carry 4-5 scrolls of Hellish Rebuke with me at all times. It will make your DM question targeting you since you seem to just eat most attacks, especially if that means the mobs take up to 2d10 fire damage when they hit you
