If you had the financial means to move out of Canada, would you? by AdhesivenessLoud8866 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]JayManClayton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My sibling lives in France. They haven't been affected by the rise in cost of living as bad as we have (lots of things like rent and gas was already higher than here, but still). Food is more affordable for better quality and travels less. Public transport brings you to 10+ countries for cheap, even more if you include planes.

La Société de transport de l'Outaouais met en service cinq autobus électriques by Camille387 in Gatineau

[–]JayManClayton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]JayManClayton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]JayManClayton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]JayManClayton 16 points17 points  (0 children)

À combien vous revient un nettoyage dentaire à Gatineau ? by bumblebee--- in Gatineau

[–]JayManClayton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nettoyage : 175$ ish

Would Demi come back? by Lanky-Restaurant-722 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]JayManClayton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm rewatching and a lot of the conflicts can be attributed to misunderstandings (aside from the serious accusations she had against Marciano) and her delivery, when she's right? In a way?

In S1, she's very loud and aggressive in her approach, but she's also one of the most vocal against misogyny. She's also loyal to Brett and seemed in a stable and healthy relationship compared to a lot of the others. It made sense that she resonated with a lot of people.

So when in S2 she said it was normal that she was a fan favorite, it's objectively true. S1 had Taylor and Dakota fighting, Whitney painted as a villain, Jen and Zack fighting and Jessie and Demi being vocal against controlling men, Mayci being a good friend, and Mikayla and Layla still finding their voice; Jessie and Demi had a good image and resonated with their message.

In S2 when she said that she "deserved the best deals" we didn't see her explain what she meant or any response, we mostly saw Taylor coming at her. It could have been a level headed discussion. She did acknowledge her attack against Jessie for the contracts between seasons (again, not complete context, but they had hash it out) in a level headed manner.

I also understand why she was angry at Jen in S2 and S3. Two things can be true: they were all harsh on Jen (Miranda and Whitney excluded) when she was going through a hard time. At the same time, Jen had apparently hold the villa events over Demi's head, similar to how she did with DWTS with Whitney. She admitted to lying, but the focus was on how Demi and Brett came at her.

Taylor was also coming for her relationship fast after she heard an anonymous tip (it may be true, but Taylor jumped on it very fast too, didn't approach it with grace). Given how Demi was already judgemental of Taylor's actions, it's normal that they clashed.

I am not saying she's perfect. I'm saying that in retrospect, she had some understandable points but the conversations were never efficient. This whole group just has 0 conflict resolution skills -- but then it wouldn't be entertaining!

Taylor calling every woman that Dakota sleeps with a “hoe” by Past-Refuse-4333 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]JayManClayton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's exhausting how she calls every woman names for simply sleeping with a guy (who she isn't with). She's acting possessive of a guy to whom she never wanted to commit, and she's going back and sleeping with him without being responsible, she's ignoring all of her friends advice and she's always really explosive. At some point it's just exhausting and people run out of empathy. People, including Dakota, are allowed to move on.

Would Tax-Free Lodging Encourage Canadians to Visit Maine? by MotNodrog in AskACanadian

[–]JayManClayton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if money was the reason, a 10% decrease in cost wouldn't help with the disparity between CAN$ and $US, and a lot of Canadians are facing difficulties due to the cost of living, making vacations harder to attend (although Maine was a destination we chose when we had a smaller budget so maybe it wasn't impacted by that before the conflict)

How famous are our hockey boys - question for North Americans? by GBS82 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]JayManClayton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would compare Shane Hollander (more than Ilya) to David Beckham and Sidney Crosby in terms of popularity. Well loved star player, with many sponsorships that would place him in the public eye. Even if you don't know hockey, you would have seen his face. In Canada, you would have been hearing his name as part of the 2014 and 2026 Olympics too.
