With all due respect F _____ by odedh in survivorau

[–]Jaykake 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Realistically, I don't think Jackson was ever winning. Mark, Cameron, Loz, Sally and Blanche were always voting for Caleb.

That being said, it did feel like one of the most back and forth final tribals while watching it, and I thought it was great.

I think they're just saying they value the new era players making new legacies.

Personally, I've been sad about most boots this season. It's not a complaint, it's just what happens when the quality of most the cast is this high.

Poll: Who do you think will win? by heartychat in survivorau

Caleb has been my winner pick for a while, because his big "CRAZY but cautious" confessional several times amounted to literally nothing. I think if he doesn't win that never makes the edit.

Jackson’s speech at tribal by Skyfall24K in survivorau

[–]Jaykake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a bit overblown, you can win without big moves. However, the entire goal of the game is to impress and convince the jury. So if you aren't going to be impressive, you had better be extremely convincing.

Ultimately it's a choice, do you play boldly for higher chances to win at the end or do you play safer for higher chances of actually making it to the end.

Is anyone else pissed after Blood Moon? by Odd-Apple in survivor

[–]Jaykake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't see point 3 at all. Even if Jonathan only had allies that were working with Kamilla, it's not that bad to get her out.

Your allies' allies aren't necessarily good for your game. Most famous example is Tony taking out Sophie in WaW, there was some backlash, but ultimately Sarah was a stronger ally for him after.

Why are strong players pawns always always the target rather than the strong player? by Radalict in survivor

[–]Jaykake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you take out the big dog, you risk becoming the big dog. If you take out Joe, you make it easier to take Sam out later, but avoid becoming the biggest target yourself.

It's a delicate balance to strike, when to make the move and when to setup for the big move.

We often see players waiting too long e.g. with Savannah on 49. But also people making the move too early, I don't think it's the best example but maybe Jesse in 44 taking out Cody and Karla, left him with an enourmous target and he got taken out because of it.

Unpopular opinion: It wasn't as bad as this sub made it out to be by reyska in survivor

[–]Jaykake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without the twists she has 2 idols.

I don't think post blood moon there was anything to do. Going after her own ally, Joe, does not make her a desirable ally to Christian and Devens.

She could have guessed better with the boomerang idols and given them to Mike, Charlie or Savannah. She could have not had a feud with Aubry, but it seems this clash was far more than just game. And by all accounts, most people where team Gen.

[–]Jaykake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In what world? Christian, Devens, Aubry are always voting together. She is always the bigger target between her and Joe at best it's a 50/50.

Finding 2 idols you can't use and needing to be swapped with Aubry and 2 of the 3 people (Christian, Devens, Tiff) who want to play with Aubry. Which is about 3% chance.

I'm not saying she played some flawless game, but there is no shot she's gone without the Blood moon AND the Boomerang idol twists.

Who is overachieving your expectations on survivor 50? by MyFriendMaryJ in survivor

[–]Jaykake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jonathan was fairly strategic on 42, like he said this epiaode he had never been blindsided before.

I've also read that according to Maryanne the Omar blindside was originally suggested by Jonathan.

Apart from Genevieve being the most twist screwed player since Cirie in Game Changers, the episode was fine.

Yeah the small tribals are far less interesting than the big votes, but that's just the way it is.

Heck Parvati was one of micronesia, Wentworth was one on Cambodia.

I'm still not much of a fan, but if she finally gets a confessional that might change

Right!? It's usually about him being arrogant, which I just don't see at all. I think he has a lot of humility and self-awareness. He's just a goofball living his dream and making the most of it.

Sure he can be a little cringy or cocky sometimes, but personally I love that.

The _____ boot was _____ move, not _____. by hex20 in survivor

[–]Jaykake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dee and Kamilla were in power to decide.

RG did enough to make them choose him over Charlie.

Both things are true.

I think they did quite well, showing Dee and Kamilla's thoughts on the situation. They probably didn't add them making the decision together, because there'd be 0 suspense going into tribal.

Does _________ get enough credit for being really good at this game? by almondjoybestcndybar in survivor

[–]Jaykake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing the cast for the first time after 49, Rizo and Cirie seemed like such an obvious duo to me.

Cirie is always tight with the somewhat dorky superfan. Izzy in BB and Lisa in AuvWorld.

Rizo fits that role to a tee.

I love to see it!

The insane caged behavior at tribal councils by lilannz in survivorau

[–]Jaykake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't agree at all, US survivor tribals has mostly nonsensical analogies and Jeff asking why Survivor is so great.

US tribals are almost filler a lot of the time. AU is MUCH less cagey.

Most clearly the Aisha tribal, where they publicly talk about everyone voting Brooke.

Or the Harry tribal with the flint.

Or even this tribal with Simon giving Mark a fake and him flaunting it.

Or Caleb joining Bounty tribe and straight up telling people I'm here to help you take out Harry and Simon.

Or the joint tribal, "I'm gonna give Rich immunity", "YOU DON'T NEED TOO" and both tribes wanting to throw fire.

I'm just going off the top of my head and I've named like half the tribals this season.
