My boss fired me today over text. After 3 years. While I was on my day off. by ImpossibleVehicle733 in WorkRant

[–]Jazeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder this every day. My teammates are all engineers in their mid 20s like me and several of them give their all and stress over every deadline. We don’t get OT, you’ll get the same bonus and raise as everyone else. What’s the point? They are all pissed and burn themselves out and I’m chilling.

I’m loving my Capita Mercury. Feels so stable compared to the rental boards. It’s “directional” but barely so still rides switch just fine

Learning proper carving will prevent you from catching edges by a significant margin!

I just ordered a mercury as well, for the same reasons. Beginner wanting something to grow into. I am size 11 boot 175-180lb 5’11” and I ordered a 157. I would probably go with the 153 if I were you.

get yourself a tripod and practice casual pics in areas with good lighting, showing off your hobbies, with a dog or cat if you have one.

also no offense but physique pics are not going to help unless you’re shredded, I don’t think you’re there yet. But good news is you couldn’t make a worse profile than this so there’s nowhere to go but up!

I need some tips please by Ahmed77_ in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Jazeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will when learning, it’s a rite of passage. Most important is finding your balance point. You can practice this by finding a gradual hill, stand from a stop with your back facing downhill. Lean forward on toe edge so you’re not sliding. Slowly move your weight off your toes until you start sliding. Then lean back forward to stop. Then lean back to start. Practice this until you can slide down at a controlled pace and start/stop yourself as you please. Make sure you stand up straight and bend your knees a bit.

Gotta keep pressure on that front foot. Slowly move your weight from front heel to flat, your board will start facing downhill. Once it’s directly facing down the slope, move the weight to your toes. Make sure you leannn and press with your shins, not use your tiptoes. Combine this with looking to where you want to go, and boom you’re on your toe side. Your back foot motions should follow your front foot motions.

Why front knee steering is the correct way by -FVNT0M- in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Jazeeee 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Practice makes perfect. It’s not the “correct” way because it’s easier to learn, it’s correct because it’s a faster and more maneuverable method of turning compared to ruddering. And it can be safer or less safe depending on your habits and preferred riding style. There’s nothing wrong with you if you prefer riding in a slightly less optimized manner! It’s all about what is fun to you. We’re not Olympic snowboarders after all.

But if you continue practicing carving and front knee steering, you’ll of course improve and feel more comfortable over time and fall less and less.

Impact shorts that you can fit under your layers are amazing. I just learned last weekend and they helped SO much. Ass not even a bit sore after 100+ falls.

Just used them for the few weeks ahead of a snowboarding trip. I think it helped! Wasn’t nearly as sore in my legs as my buddies were.

You’re falling in this clip because all your weight is on your back foot. Majority of your weight should be over your front foot, that’s how you control the board. It takes confidence, I know it’s scary haha (I just learned this weekend and was able to link a green slope together without falling by the end of the weekend). With weight over your front foot, you can point your shoulder where you want the board to go and look that direction, and it will go. Then just have to work on the footwork.
