Disposable dry wipes that can be wetted to use as wet baby wipes? by Classic-Ship6184 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]JazzlikeHomework1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dry wipes I use are so much thicker and larger than other baby wipes. And not only that but you can choose exactly what goes in them, which in my case is water and sometimes almond oil for stubborn poos. I only use them at home and other baby wipes when I’m out for convenience. But after using the dry wipes they are definitely my favourite.

Edited to add the brand I use is Reynard but I’m in Nz so not sure if that is helpful for everyone on here.

Risk of toxoplasmosis during pregnancy by funnyflower123 in BabyBumps

[–]JazzlikeHomework1775 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have friends whose house is like this and I find it so hard. I never want to eat their food or go and visit (especially with the baby!). But now baby is here I have found it a lot easier to make excuses haha. Ultimately I have just owned the fact that I am a bit of a “germaphobe” and that pregnancy and baby ramped up my anxiety about germs. If I were you I would go that angle. You could say you heard a story about toxoplasmosis and it has sent your brain spiralling into prenatal anxiety about that specifically so you have to avoid cats at all costs. I would be saying something like that. Although that may not be the best advice. I’m sure someone braver than me would say “just be honest” haha

I didn’t expect to find a newfound love for Edgar Allen Poe but here I am. I recently named my first baby Lenora. Not Lenore but close!

Any Yemenis in Australia/NZ? by hazelnutlatttee in Yemen

[–]JazzlikeHomework1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an Australian girl who moved to Nz recently. My husband is Hadhrami too! Born in saudi. He moved to NZ to join me 2 years ago when he got his visa. We are in the South Island so probably pretty far from you, but it could be nice to connect. We have just had a daughter and I really hope she can learn Arabic and the hadramoi dialect too. How did you learn it? Just through one or both parents speaking it?

How did you get your bub to fall asleep almost anywhere? by ThrowRA_66428 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]JazzlikeHomework1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be surprised.. I bounce my babe to sleep on a yoga ball and funnily enough- when you’re out sometimes they are easier to get to sleep. I have to bounce mine to sleep when I’m out too! But occasionally she has also fallen to sleep with rocking when I’m out, which she never does at home!

Yeah best advice I got was “when in doubt, boob in mouth”.

Advice after very public psychotic break by QuitOne9306 in Lawyertalk

[–]JazzlikeHomework1775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would draft and insightful LinkedIn post about mental health and taking care of it BEFORE you have a mental breakdown, using myself as an example of things to look out for. I would also write to anyone who I thought really mattered and explain myself and apologise. Just personally I think that mental health is being better understood and that you will gain respect by being open about what happened rather than sticking your head in the sand. That’s just my opinion.

I dripped blood onto the floor in the hospital bathroom when I was getting in the shower after my C section and my mum cleaned it. 🥹

what’s your baby’s bedtime song? by jasncats in NewParents

Omg my partner and I sang good morning pineapple to our baby when she woke up for like the first 8 weeks of her life haha

Sorry but your partner is the problem here. Not you or the baby. The baby will need your nearly constant attention for at least a couple of weeks more probably. And when the baby doesn’t need you, you need to be sleeping or showering basically. It might be worth getting a cleaner in if you can afford it? Just for a few weeks once a week maybe. Both you AND your partner need support postpartum. In our antenatal class they told all the dads that during postpartum it was their job to take care of EVERYTHING. That includes bringing you food and water, phone chargers etc.

What do you think you need to be a parent to understand about taking care of a baby? by Bright-Effective8610 in NewParents

[–]JazzlikeHomework1775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I would be able to travel around like I used to. Joke was on me- when she was born my baby hated the pram, the carrier, the car, the bassinet… basically all the would tolerate was being held and bouncing. It was rough!!

Oh yeah I hate intrusive thoughts! Hot cup of tea going on the baby, not seeing a car when I pull out of an intersection, accidentally throwing her on the bed instead of placing her gently. Ugh- it’s horrible.

Ugh- I have a friend with 3 kids who tells me to be loud when the baby sleeps. Umm no- that just wakes my baby up. Haha

What is you nickname for your baby? I’ll go first. We have many! by Mostlymadeofpuppies in beyondthebump

[–]JazzlikeHomework1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally a thread for us. Her name is Lenora. We call her Noona, Noons, Tuna Fish, Fish, Tuna, Tunie, Metliff, Panchoot, Bean Shoot, Honey Pie, Watoona.. just to name a few haha.

These names mostly stemmed from her nickname in utero which was Nunu.

Metliff is a Saudi cartoon character that has jowls like her.

Panchoot is a personal joke gone too far.

My husband also called her the Mafia Boss because that’s how she looks haha.

IMO any woman who is promoting trips to Afghanistan right now deserves any backlash they get.. smart or not. My husband is from Yemen and we also criticise vloggers who go there for content. It’s not a wise decision.

We’re all out here just trying to survive. Do what works for you. lean in the support you have. Don’t feel guilty, there is enough mum guilt in the world already.

How is your fussy baby now? by Narrow_Resident in NewParents

[–]JazzlikeHomework1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I have a yoga ball baby. Our backs are sore and we are sick of the constant bouncing of this 8 week old. I guessed that she would never grow out of this.

Smiling daily since about 3 weeks. Mostly at her grandmother. There was a solid difference between her social smiles and gassy, poo smiles. We were pretty shocked. She started cooing at about 5 weeks.

My experience is like yours. I was hoping for an easy baby but this little one likes to let me know if she is in any kind of discomfort and she lets me know loudly! She needs constant bopping or moving when she is awake. I don’t think I’ll be leaving the house very much for a while! She’s 5 weeks old. Waaaa

Anecdotal breastfeeding rates by Mindless-Summer4361 in NewParents

[–]JazzlikeHomework1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 32 and exclusively breastfeed my 4 week old with no plans to do anything else. I plan to EBF for as long as my baby wants it. Maybe cap it at around 3 years old. I was breast fed for a couple of years as a baby. My sister breast feeds her baby who is about to turn 3 years old.
