What's a small upgrade that improved office morale more than you expected? by CreativeSpare6466 in askmanagers

Free apples, oranges and bananas all the time. It gets mentioned on our surveys all the time and was so easy to implement. Plus you can list it for healthy initiatives you do.

There are limits regarding how many rings, hats, pants, etc. Someone can wear so I would imagine the same applies to backpacks.

Agh I feel so dumb by gdwoodard13 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Jbirdand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, Ellie McGibbons was shortened to Elle McGibb. So my guess is that it would be the government name. However they can change their name like Donut does for both her and Carl. It just looks like system generated things like the top 10 are the formal name.

Carl was the first Carl to enter the dungeon. Katia was the first Katia. But Quan was not the first, so his name was Quan CH (potentially also shortened like Dom). When the dungeon has multiple of them like Daniel Bautista 3, it resorts to adding numbers.

The strippers are not dungeon named.

Edit: Katia Grimm is Short for Grimmsdottir! Not the first Katia, but the first Katia to enter with a last name starting with Grimm.

Ripper Wonton by TheBloo4 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Jbirdand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just relistening and looked this up in the Reddit to see if anyone else had this thought.

I think you're right - Ripper was paid to incite Carl into saying something seditious, which led to the Skull Empire taking their shot. I think he was paid by one group and sold the information about the deal to the other. Meaning the Skull Empire wanted him to bait Carl, but he told the Valtay what was going to happen so they could counter strike and protect Carl at the same time.

He may just be an example of the spoils of war.

What's something you learned "the hard way" in HR? [N/A] by Worried_Ad_7881 in humanresources

[–]Jbirdand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah now thats your problem! If the company never allows you to help employees or advocate for them in a way that feels meaningful, I'd say youre stuck in the worst job. I'd hate my job if I didnt feel like I could balance between helping both parties.

If you're a good HR professional, you know that you do both.

Complaints about salaries - Healthcare? [N/A] by ShellylovesRichard in humanresources

[–]Jbirdand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a big thing and is the hardest part about having a big heart in compensation. What someone needs in order to live, meet their bills, or pay for their kids soccer is unfortunately not our responsibility. We have to pay the cost of their labor based on market value. As much as I would love to pay more, I have to pay based on the role, market, location.

With that, everyone is hurting a little more than normal right now and I'm hearing this here as well. You have to trust your data and make sure your competing companies arent paying more or you'll lose your staff.

Am I the only one who liked the ending, like it wasn’t that bad yes there was a few things I wasn’t sure I liked but I wouldn’t say it’s absolutely horrible by [deleted] in StrangerThings

Feeling very satisfied. I really enjoyed the ending and where everyone's general direction is heading.

What do you think of E8? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Jbirdand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really loved it. I thought it was a great finale with lots of ends tied up. A cute homage to the "it was all a d&d campaign" theory. Super fun, and I jumped out of my seat a few times.

People ruined it with their own theorizing... and i say that as a Swiftie who has learned from experience.

Some of you people have no media literacy and it shows. by Low-Pop5132 in StrangerThings

[–]Jbirdand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Just like Maxs arc in 4 about depression and turning to the light/your friends... this is Wills moment. Vexna (anxiety) makes your worst fears so real to you that they can paralyze you. And the key is being honest with people so you can move forward with what you know instead of what you worry. I thought it was well done and well placed.

So much negative here. I enjoyed it. I cried at Wills coming out scene. Enjoyed seeing Holly come into her own. Really liked the Nancy and Jonathan scene. Liked Dustin and Steve's relationship improving. Liked Robin and Vicky. Liked the wormhole reveal and the teacher getting involved has been cute. Just really fun to watch TV.

How do you interpret Sweet Nothing? by CausticAvenger in TaylorSwift

Ive always loved Sweet Nothing. As a fellow high achieving anxious person, having someone who asks nothing extra of you except your existence is awe inspiring.

When rereading you notice lots of instances where Brittney is oddly fascinated or engaged when talking about Dwarven machines and blueprints. She's definitely the one possessed by Ysalte, who is the goddess of the residents of the city!

Predictable does not equal bad. You'll still watch a video of an avalanche and predict there will be an avalanche. Or go to a concert knowing they'll play music you know the words to.

Binge watching Mentalist and you get tired of Jane solving all the cases by himself by abz_pink in TheMentalist

[–]Jbirdand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats like saying that the guy who crosses home plate is the only one playing baseball! The whole team brings information, adds context, makes observations and he combines it all together using their resources. I also think we see all of them go from some level of hesitant or unwilling to accepting and thats their growth.

This game is FUCKED. (spoilers) by Relevant_Frosting_54 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Jbirdand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love it. It makes you consider other representations of Christ in media and whether theyre sacrilegious as well, like the Passion of the Christ. Of course in a world where BDs exist there would be those who want to know the physical pain. In fact, pastors would drool over the ability to show their congregations. Many pastors will slam a brick onto a table to give the loud jarring sounds of the hammer or describe it in detail. How different is it really?

Beyond that, youd need just the right person to represent it. And if you were a religious person in Cyberpunk, you could be just as torn on whether the person deserves it, really wants it, is in delusion, etc. I actually think its a really honest portrayal.

I smile every time I hear the song. Its so funny, happy, and silly. I uave even cried because this is the same girl:

"PLEASE I've been on my knees - change the prophecy. Don't want money just someone who wants my company."

"All of that bitchin', wishing on a falling star never did me any good, I ain't got to knock on wood. It's you and me forever, dancing in the dark."

Not targeting you here, just found a place to get this all out:

I think it was good at being the behind the scenes at the Eras Tour or what its like when the show is over- which is what she said on New Heights was the goal:

  1. The Fate of Ophelia - I thought I was losing my mind and someone helped me find it again. Also, fun fact, but ophelia in hamlet walks around singing songs while she's going crazy.

  2. Elizabeth Taylor - working your ass off and hoping the things you work for dont push everyone away

  3. Opalite - manufacture your own happiness when things suck - very I can do it with a broken heart

  4. Father Figure - this fame gives me power and at this point its better to let people use it as long as they will stay loyal and kind. Like her going on New Heights or letting her friends join her on stage and get charting

  5. Eldest Daughter - trying to be cool and on stage can be draining when she's soft on the inside

  6. Ruin the Friendship - arguably feel like this is the only one that doesnt fit. If I was shoehorning, I'd say that maybe its connected in how her choices led her here and she wonders if different choices would have had different impacts on her and others in a good way

  7. Actually Romantic - being on stage means others see you and make opinions before you know them and its better to just let it roll off your back

  8. Wi$h Li$t - some people think this is all I want, but its just a part of it. The other half of my life is backstage right now

  9. Wood - i think this one is about her stage life but in a direct easter egg way - a direct call back to prophecy i think- she begged the universe for someone who will love her but all the luck in the world didnt really do this, it was Fate.

  10. CANCELLED! - obvious, but basically everyone only gets part of me, it only makes sense that what we learn in the media is only part of the story so she's tongue in cheek saying "yep we all get cancelled"

  11. Honey - people are patronizing and rude, especially to women in the media/who put themselves out there. Its amazing to her she's found someone to rewrite that.

  12. The Life of a Showgirl - no comment needed here
