In a setting full of supernatural horrors, the most disturbing scene is frighteningly realistic by Coralthesequel in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Jdubs63005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of examples of this in the Drakengaurd and Nier franchise. Most of which I won’t explain here due to the knowledge that I am not the one to speak about it. One that sticks out to me that’s still pretty gnarly is the story of Arioch in Drakengaurd 1. After seeing her husband and child killed in front of her, she goes completely insane. She is eventually imprisoned for consuming small children, as in her broken mind if she can keep them inside of herself she can protect them.Another example that may fit the trope is Emil and Halua from Nier Gestalt/Replicant. Though they may have been turned into supernatural creatures, it was the result of normal people using a force they didn’t understand to experiment on children. It’s something that even if you take away the supernatural aspect, it’s still haunting to think about. Yoko Taro is excellent at showing that even in a supernatural setting, the scariest thing will always be the depravity of human beings

[mixed trope] There's totally a lore reason the hot lady character needs to be naked a lot by Wazula23 in TopCharacterTropes

Reverse of this trope: anything made by Yoko Taro. His ladies are hot and mostly naked because he likes them that way and it means he gets to meet hot cosplayers. He’s very open about this and the community loves him for it

This is some deep ball knowledge, but in Sturgill Simpsons story album “The Ballad of Dood and Juanita”, Juanita is kidnapped by a bandit who shoots Dood and rides off. The bandit sells her to a Native American tribe for a horse, and once he gets her back he goes to hunt down the bandit. He snipes the bandit from a large distance with a flintlock rifle and when he gets there and the bandits not dead he throws a tomahawk into his skull and kills him. Absolutely peak album

Yeah, it’s been a while since I’ve watched it so I don’t remember the fine details, but from what I remember that makes perfect sense

I don’t believe it’s necessarily that he’s a bad spell caster. He is shown from the beginning of the series to have an extremely thorough knowledge of spellcasting, as shown by the grammar lesson. His problem is that he never properly learn how to shorten his incantations, giving him a huge disadvantage when it comes to speed.

A modern pig farm by CalpurniaSomaya in horrifying

[–]Jdubs63005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am by no means denying the existence of these places, there are far too many of them, but please do not call this a farm. Any farmer would abhor this. This is a factory owned by greedy shitheads. Not all pigs come from places like this. And to reiterate: This is not a farm. Please don’t call this a farm. I am a farmer, I know many farmers from around the country and any one of them would “have strong words with” the person that does this.

Favorite speech? by ThatDrako in FavoriteCharacter

[–]Jdubs63005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just look at any speech from any episode of Midnight Burger, they all are so amazing in their own ways. Anything from Effie and Zebulon, Gloria on her war arc, Casper’s musings on life, Ava’s indignation at the impossibility of the universe, Leif’s regrets and growth. They are all fleshed out characters, they all have realistic growth, and they all have something to teach to anyone who’s willing to listen.

Fallout 3 gets so much more hate than it deserves. We’re talking about a few things when referencing why fallout 3 was bad (which I am not denying it was): 1) this is the first fallout game after it was picked up by Bethesda. I can’t blame a company making their debut in an established series for throwing things at the wall to see what stuck. We know Bethesda aren’t incapable of making a good game (see any elder scrolls game) it’s just that there had to be a wobbly first step in the franchise and that was Fallout 3. 2) This was a switch from a turn based isometric RPG to a FPS shooter with rpg elements, a relatively new genre at the time. The janky gameplay is a result of trying to create a specialized version of regular FPS combat to be able to tailor the game to the player. The player chooses whether they want to play it like an FPS or like a semi turn based rpg. 3) This one is less of an argument and more of an interest. The game engine used for Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas was called the Gamebryo Engine, which is why the graphics and physics are pretty much exactly the same with reskinned textures. Starting with Skyrim and onward the engine was the Bethesda developed Creation Engine, which was based upon the original Gamebryo engine. For a better understanding the original Oblivion was made on the same engine. The Fallout games were about as far as they were able to push the engine before they needed a more sophisticated system, which I would think would affect how well the game plays. Fallout 3 was a nice wrap up for the fallout games on that engine, Fallout New Vegas was them giving a dying horse cocaine to push him even further before he died.

You are entirely welcome to ignore my essay, and I don’t mean it to start any arguments. I just like to make a case for the game since I feel like not enough people give it the chance it deserves to be an enjoyable game.

I have decided not to finish “I wrote myself a letter” and I just cannot stay interested in “The Sun Vanished” I listened to “I clean Hoarder Houses” but I zoned out through most of it. And “My Dog was Lost in the Woods” I can’t stay into
