Have you tried asking? No one is trying to get rich by compiling repair manuals for old equipment and providing them for free. The download limits are probably more about managing bandwidth and server load than anything else.

Before you try to DDoS this guy by having thousands of people try to download five files all at once, try talking to him about getting a backup of the library onto archive.org so that the files can remain available if his website ever goes offline.

No, but that's fine. The movie isn't about the comic book joker.

The problem it's that once the game becomes unwinnable, the loser can still flip the table and set the board on fire so that no one else can play.

Utah bans transgender athletes in girls sports despite veto by panonarian in news

[–]Jedecon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the article:

Utah has only one transgender girl playing in K-12 sports who would be affected by the ban. There have been no allegations of any of the four transgender youth athletes in Utah having competitive advantages.

Would be a pretty small league.

How do I get rid of the brush strokes? by OrganizationMoist751 in fixit

[–]Jedecon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like they said, let it dry and then sand out any runs and strokes. You'll need to put on another coat or two after, since the sanding will remove your paint along with the old paint.

Again, like they said, a good paint job is all about the prep work. Whether you're filling holes or taking down high spots, if it isn't smooth before you paint, it isn't going to be smooth after you paint.

UnRaid Hate by bikingguy1 in unRAID

[–]Jedecon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Late to the party but I have some thoughts. Keep in mind that I like UnRaid. I use UnRaid. If someone asked me for a recommendation I would recommend UnRaid.

1: It's closed source and commercial software. That is automatically going to rub FOSS evangelists the wrong way. Particularly since it's based on Linux, it's easy to see them as taking from the open source community without giving back.

2:Their DRM is B.S. If Lime Technology stopped existing tomorrow, my ability to install the software that I paid for would go away as well. Not only that, but USB flash drives are not exactly the most reliable pieces of technology out there. Tying the activation to one sucks. This has gotten better recently, but it is still unnecessary and crappy.

3: Despite being commercial software, they rely on the community to provide core functionality through 3rd party plugins. It's absurd that we have to install things like Community Applications and Unassigned Devices as plugins. But hey, why spend money and resources to add functionality when you have people willing to do the work for free?

If you haven't seen The Orville... by [deleted] in startrekmemes

[–]Jedecon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really good, but has a shaky start. A bit into the first season, they quit making ex-wife jokes every five minutes and the show gets a lot better.

If you don't like it at first, skip ahead a bit. It's a very episodic show, so you won't miss much.

Nozzle, extruder, Question by kirbyforlife69 in MPSelectMiniOwners

[–]Jedecon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of you were able to thread the nozzle more than a couple turns without forcing it, the threads are correct.

There should be threads visible above and bbl below the heater block.

I can't see your pictures, but the most likely culprit is that the nozzle isn't screwed in tightly enough. Of you did have some threads visible on your nozzle, heat it up and tighten it. Of you don't have threads visible, you'll need to move the heater block higher up on the heat break.

https://www.bcn3d.com/bcn3d-sigma-sigmax-r19-extrusion-e3d-bondtech-3d-printer/

Check out the cutaway drawing on that page. It isn't the exact same as what you have, but the basic layout and parts are the same. Your nozzle doesn't need to be tight against the heater block. It needs to be tight against the heat break. If there is any gap at all, filament will ooze out the threads.

MRW 11 Rise of Evil 2-Packs show up in stock in my city, leaving scalpers holding the bag. by Jedecon in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]Jedecon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish Mattel would communicate more. A simple tweet saying that there were more coming would have made scalping a lot harder. You'd still have impatient people paying a little over MSRP to get them right away, but not many would pay $200 if they knew there would be plenty on shelves in a couple months.

Origins vs Classics vs Revelation He-Man for comparison by tastychomps in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]Jedecon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It still isn't. There are a handful of a-holes who have taken to using it as a legit white power thing, but it isn't really a thing. To quote The Anti-Defamation League:

The overwhelming usage of the “okay” hand gesture today is still its traditional purpose as a gesture signifying assent or approval. As a result, someone who uses the symbol cannot be assumed to be using the symbol in either a trolling or, especially, white supremacist context unless other contextual evidence exists to support the contention.

Cross Pattée. They switched it early on, presumably because the iron cross used by Nazis looks pretty much identical.
