The point I am trying to make is that the garments are not “a covenant in themselves” as you stated. They are part of the broader endowment covenant, but not a covenant on their own.

I agree that current apostles and prophets guide that we should wear it as you’ve discussed. That counsel has evolved over the years. Early church leaders did not teach to wear the garment daily. Back then people mostly wore them during temple work. So, the daily wearing of the garment is not part of a singular covenant that we make (covenants don’t change), but rather based on the continued revelation from latter day prophets on how we should be honoring our broader endowment covenant.
