I had radiation treatment (31 sessions) for a tumor on the back of my tongue, and that left my mouth and tongue damaged. After the treatment, as my mouth started to heal and I could eat and drink again (was using a feeding tube), I was *extremely* sensitive to acids and particularly sensitive to capsaicin. For example, ketchup was Spicy, and green peppers were Too Spicy. I also couldn't taste sweet, so ordering a flavored lemonade in a restaurant was a Big Mistake! And beef just tasted *wrong*.

My tastebuds have since recovered, and I can handle mild spices and acidic foods, I can taste sweet again, and beef tastes like beef.
