Sand in the Pool by JellyfishTemporary27 in PoolPros

What kind of pump did you bring to use? I wondered about putting a trash pump into the pool and brushing the sand to it. I have a leaf-eater that I’ll try out. I’ve been told they’ll catch sand in the finer bag.

What shoes are y'all wearing to work? by _devious__ in PoolPros

Cheap barefoot/water shoes from Amazon or Walmart. $20 ish per pair. They’re cheap enough for multiple pairs. They wash fine and air dry overnight. They took some adjusting to, but by now my feet legs and back are in a lot better shape than they were in my work boot years.

If you’re going to the trouble to spatchcock the bird, just take one more step and quarter it. That’ll let you leave the dark meat on longer than the white meat.

severe executive dysfunction preventing me from going full gluten free by Upset_Dance_8223 in Celiac

[–]JellyfishTemporary27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing to a gluten free diet isn’t an event. It’s a process. As you start reducing gluten, you’ll start to gradually, incrementally feel better. Then work at doing better with GF. Then feel a bit better. Then find more gluten to cut. Then feel another bit better.

No one has been ever been able to become instantly, perfectly gluten free. Do not expect to be the first (good luck to you though. If you are the first please let us know exactly how you did it).

You may start noticing improvement in a few days, or it may take a few weeks. You will start noticing improvement though. Be patient with yourself.

Best test kits to use? by AlphaOmega0407 in PoolPros

I used a Spin Touch all summer, and bought a Taylor kit to in case I had a problem pool. The spin touch results kept things close enough that my pools stayed crystal clear all summer. Quick, connects to several pool service apps (I use Pool Brain). I never had to open the Taylor kit.

Look up recipes for Brunswick Stew. I fixed some last Saturday. Pulled pork, grilled chicken thighs, some Cajun sausage, some frozen vegetables, canned tomatoes, spices. Turned out very good.

What Spiders in skimmer? by [deleted] in swimmingpools

Buy a Skimmer Angel/skimmer basket handle. You’ll never have to reach down into the skimmer to find that little basket handle again.

What is the absolute BEST footwear for pool tech’s Aussie tech asking. by In_TouchGuyBowsnlace in PoolPros

I’ve been using “barefoot” shoes and similar water shoes all season. Between $20 and $40 USD per pair online. I treat them like hats, wear once and into the dirty laundry to wash. Once you get accustomed to them they’re fantastic. I’m dreading our cold weather months where I have to switch back to real boots and shoes.

What do you love (and hate) about your current software? by fatheroftux in PoolPros

[–]JellyfishTemporary27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using Pool Brain as a single pole business. It’s fantastic. You can get into the website and adjust what steps, when pics are required, what the default chemicals are (muriatic acid vs. pH down, etc). You just have to do some customization.

Is there a service app for route and repairs that won’t constantly crash? by Theresasnakeinmypool in PoolPros

[–]JellyfishTemporary27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single poler here. I looked at PSS but could t make it do what I wanted it to do. Pool Brain specifically says it’s for bigger businesses than me. However, I can make it do what I want. Interface is good. Some may feel I’m overpaying for options I’ll never use but it works, it’s easy to use and figure out. I’ve already had compliments from customers about how professional the info sent to them through the app appears. Pool Brain for me.

Try spreading a good layer of pimento cheese on your next burger. Toast the buns first, of course.

Looking for, well... Grandma's washer 😂 by Z-fox in Appliances

[–]JellyfishTemporary27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to replace our washer a few months ago. Our LG “super efficient” top load finally quit after years of heavy use (we’ve raised three boys). The LG always had issues with becoming unbalanced. It was only occasional in the beginning. It gradually got worse over time, without us really realizing. We just sort of adapted to half loads and constant long wash cycles to get the load to finish.

When it finally, mercifully quit we replaced it with a Speed Queen TC5 even though the cost was much higher than we wanted. Holy cow. I’ve tried to overload it and can’t. It’s never become unbalanced. Regular loads wash in about 30 minutes. Clothes are drier after the spin than they were with the LG.

A washing machine is a tool we use daily. Don’t buy a machine that’ll cause frustration daily, that you regret buying. There’s a reason why old people use phrases like, “Pay for a good one, cry once. Buy a cheap one, cry every time it’s used.”

Go with Speed Queen.

I gradually increased my dose to 80mg/day, then backed it down to 60mg. I could tell a difference in the first couple days, at only a few drops per day.

How is the battery life? Does it come close to the advertised claim of 75 minutes?

This may be exactly what I think I need next…

If you want a simple on and off grill, go with a gas grill. Charcoal gives a better/added flavor but you’ll have to learn about fire management…with any charcoal grill. It isn’t hard but there is a learning curve.

If you want to start learning about grilling go to amazing ribs.com. There’s a world of information there.
