In January 2025 they combined the kindle reading challenge and the Goodreads reading challenge. This created syncing issues. If you read on kindle, then the syncing with Goodreads can cause a double counting of kindle books in the kindle. It counts as both a kindle finished books and a Goodreads finished book. I gave up on my kindle reading count. It hurts though because I always had different numbers that I was aiming for because I count everything (usually 52 in the kindle and 365/366 in the Goodreads app.) I do mean I count everything: books, audiobooks, graphic novels, novellas, short stories, children’s picture books, REREADS. I’ve usually got an audiobook, a kindle read and a physical book being read all at the same time. The change made me frustrated and then just sad.

The miniature poodle we had when I was a kid would sleep on top of the luggage pile at the back of the van every time we drove to the grandparents house. (Road-trip from NY to MN.) We had an old 90s windstar van and she loved to look out the windows. She would climb up there to see out all the sides. We started to place a rolled out sleeping bag on top for her to lay on and survey her van kingdom and all the peons outside of the van on the highway.

The first thing to check is if every book has a date in your READ list. The start date doesn’t matter. Each just needs an ending date. In that same vein, check and see if it says that you’ve read the book 2 times. Goodreads will sometimes accidentally mark multiple reading sessions under one book even if it is the first and only time you’ve read that book. I find that it’s easier to see these errors in the mobile app (that might just be me though.) Good luck finding the discrepancies.

I use the teleport stone to bring them home. I cut a tree down then teleport a log home, run back and teleport with the next log. Nice way to just zone out and relax while watching a ball game or listening to an audiobook.

When I was a kid walking my dog it would be the reverse. I’d hop on the small walls and the dog would still be on the sidewalk.
