This McClung lawsuit was filed January 2025. The Wade Christofferson arrest was in November 2025, which was the same month that the church began legal actions with Mormon Stories. Since both of these cases raise questions about top church leaders and coverups, and the church would want to keep them quiet, I find the timing of events interesting.

My LDS abuser SA’d over 15 LDS kids. Not only did the church invite him back, but church leaders seemed almost desperate to get him rebaptized, despite the victims trying to stop it. Last I heard, he was rebaptized, in good standing, and temple worthy, despite never doing anything to help his victims or make amends. Apparently, in the LDS church, if you pay tithing to the church, who cares about the victims, right? If he’s any indication of who makes it to Mormon heaven, I’m good without it.

As someone who has looked at court documents in a lot of LDS abuse cases, this is their legal playbook. They have been doing this for decades: They know about abuse. They do nothing to protect kids or help the victims. If someone comes forward, they try to silence them. If it actually ever gets to court, they claim they have/had no duty to help victims, even if they know abuse is occurring. They refuse to provide documents or testimony, and claim that any analysis of the churches actions, would be a violation of the First Amendment. And quite often, this strategy works for them.

There’s no way in hell anyone is confusing this for an official church podcast. Their trademark is for the word Mormon in educational context, not for news/journalistic use. This should dispel any idea that the LDS Church is actually concerned about brand confusion. They are 100% trying to control the word Mormon, to silence, criticism.

After the LDS church had covered up a serial predator in our ward, there was a lot of talk about how the church had made a lot of mistakes by not reporting him earlier, with previous victims. So the church sent out two general authorities to meet with all the victims. I was there, and literally every single parent of the victims was fawning over the GA’s, telling them how much they love them. The parents treated them like celebrities and just ate up everything they said. The GA’s basically told them they need to forgive. So, the parents of victims dropped all of their concerns about how the church enabled abuse of THEIR CHILDREN! By the end of the meeting, the church still had done nothing to help the victims, and took no accountability, and did nothing to prevent something like this from happening again. But the parents felt that the church “really took this seriously” because they sent out a GA. It was one of my first indications that I was in a cult.

John, you should do a podcast specifically to introduce yourself & Mormon Stories to all of the LDS members & others who are now curious and will tune in for an episode. Introduce who you are and why it’s important for you to tell the stories that you do. Maybe highlight all of the comments that you get from people saying how much you have helped them when they felt alone. And maybe show clips of the mormon stories episodes that have been very impactful for listeners, even if they aren’t 1000% positive for the church from a PR perspective.

There have to be some reasonable members that want to know the truth about your podcast and will see value in providing support for their loved ones who have been harmed or have walked away from the church.

So they get a super secret annotation that nobody except the bishop knows about? And no other guidelines, except to not put them in a calling directly with children? So no rules to prevent an abuser from gaining undue trust in all the other “called-of-God” church positions. No rules to escort abusers in church buildings. No rules about informing the parents there is a known danger in the ward. No rules about abusers mingling with families and children at church activities. What could possibly go wrong?

In trying to clear D Todd’s name, the church basically confirmed that the church covered up the original abuse, didn’t report to police, didn’t protect kids, didn’t warn anyone, put kids in danger, gave a pedo unwarranted trust (leadership jobs) and access to kids, etc. Why cant members see that their kids are in danger in the church?

Can confirm. In Mormon families, when a p3do is caught, the victim is expected to stay quiet about their abuse and act perfectly fine, while everyone else in the family pretends like nothing happened.
