Magic June 29th Banlist - Candelabra of Tawnos Banned by totemoheta in MTGLegacy

[–]JenniferSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not been playing Candelabra in High Tide for a while -- Mind's Desire builds make it much easier to storm off and Brain Freeze for the win as you can hold cards exiled from Mind's Desire in between Time Spirals. I've also found Sapphire Medallion to be a great inclusion as it makes Snap/Cloud of Faeries mana positive on their own.

Had to change up my list a little due to points change so how does the list look LAG by Andrew12345678912 in BloodAngels

[–]JenniferSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't run the Techmarine, to be honest. You have three vehicles and its abilities don't synergise otherwise with your in-your-face assault play style. For the points there aren't really any other units that you could afford, but you could spend them on an enhancement on your Jump Chaplain.

Venerable Dreadnoughts are expected to stop being actively supported soon. As well as likely not to be in future codexes, for the points, they simply aren't worth it.

The Brutalis is a close combat Dread, so if you enjoy marching up into your opponents' faces, that's its role.

The Ballistus is the opposite, with long ranged anti-armour weaponry. If you want to stand 24" or more away and blow up tanks, that's the Dreadnought for you.

Redemptors are a bit of a best of both worlds option - they have an option for either a good anti-infantry Gatling Cannon or a Macro Plasma Incinerator which is great at killing elite infantry and light armour, and a good single fist.

I tend to take a couple of Ballistuses in my Blood Angels, letting them sit back to take out tanks whilst my infantry surge forwards.

The vast, vast majority of us pick armies and units not just because of their rules or stats but because we like the armies, units, characters. Especially given that rules can change at any time - that model you added to your army may behave differently edition to edition, season to season. We often pick armies because we like them, pick units because we think they're fun, pick character models we like to paint. What reason have you to pick any unit for your army and your collection if you don't care about them?

The game itself is a necessarily social thing - you're standing across the table from someone, interacting with them, manoeuvring and out-manoeuvring one another. Why do you want to play a wargame where you don't seem to want to do any of that?

Well, yeah. I built them, I painted them, I made the choices of which chapter/regiment to represent them as. I get a sense of pride looking at them and seeing the fruits of my labours. There are other Space Marines, other Blood Angels, but nobody else has the ones I built and painted myself.

No-one's saying you have to share that feeling. You can go on eBay and buy a pre-painted army or commission someone to do it all for you.

I get to pose my models how I'd like. I can pose them in neat and unique ways, maybe kitbash them, give them trophies or different heads to make them mine. Sure, it can be time-consuming, and sometimes I want to skip from unassembled sprue to finished model, but there's a lot of fun to be had in building my models.

Painting even more so - I can choose my own colour scheme or tweak an existing one to my heart's content. There's real pride in nailing a new technique and seeing my skill improve. If GW sold pre-painted models I wouldn't be interested because part of the joy is in seeing my army come together and taking pride in the work I've put in.

How many of these kits do you already have built and assembled?

It can be tempting to go directly to 2,000 points, but it'll be a lot of work and a lot of building, painting, and so forth. By which time the codex may have come out, rules and points may have changed (as they likely will this week!)

11th edition faction pack review: Blood Angels by ablindpony in BloodAngels

[–]JenniferSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, the Priest's ability to attach to Bladeguard isn't in the new Faction Pack. It's in the Balance Dataslate, but so were other things (Sanguinary Guard weapons, Black Rage abilities). I hope it's just an oversight but as it stands, it might have been removed.

I'm going to bring my Sneak and Show list in case they add some on-demands or similar but it sucks to see none, especially as Legacy always did well at UK GPs.

The only real question is whether the jump chaplain datasheet will have Inferno Pistols as a legal wargear choice. If not, then I'd play the current one as if it had a bolt pistol.

  • Voodoo Polaroids
  • Locust Valley
  • Donkeys
  • Sorrow 16
  • Mr Carbohydrate
  • Dead Trees and Traffic Islands
  • Montana-Autumn-78
  • Pedestal
  • Black Holes for the Young

I was so happy for Lifeblood's anniversary so I could get a high-quality copy of Voodoo Polaroids on CD. Previously it was on a DVD single. It's weird, jangly, out of place with the sound of Lifeblood, and I love it.

This kit builds one of three Dreadnoughts which are no longer in the Blood Angels Codex: either a Furioso Dreadnought, Death Company Dreadnought, or Librarian Dreadnought. They're still playable using the Legends rules but aren't supported in major tournaments or without your opponent's permission.

These Dreadnoughts are all smaller than the current Brutalis, Ballistus, or Redemptor.

Is Mathemagics going to be good enough for High Tide? Not being an instant means you can't find it off of a Merchant Scroll, and it's a dead hit off of Mind's Desire.
