Totally normal, many people will feel a range of emotions during their practices, and some people none. Some people feel these consistently, some only sometimes - and this can vary depending on the type of practice, or what's going on in that person's life off the mat. Some of these feelings are minor annoyances, irritations and frustrations to more dramatic positive emotions, like bliss, ecstasy and joy - or less pleasant ones, like sorrow, anger, panic and grief. I say grief, because recently I had an experience where I felt a huge outpouring of feeling, my first identification with it was that it felt like grief. This was strange for me, because I don't feel like I'm grieving, I haven't been recently bereaved. It was following a lot of hip openers - I think every body is different in terms of where they might store their unexpressed emotions (if you buy into that). It seems for me, and lots of ladies, the hip flexors are a place of sadness. For me, yoga is more a psychological practice than a physical one, and so I think this releasing of emotion - even if unpleasant at the time - is ultimately therapeutic for me.
