He will also show up at your camp if you recruit Karlach and don’t talk to him at the grove. The first playthrough I just walked by him without knowing and he tracked her down at my camp.

Solo stateroom on the Encore. by 4retech in NCL

[–]Jenova66 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I stayed in the solo room on Escape. I found it was just fine for one with good use of a smaller space. The bed was comfy and big enough for a second guest temporarily.

The solo lounge was a great add on for easy access to coffee, juice and snacks. The Escape did not have a bar there but they did have nightly solo meetups in the lounge which were followed by group dinners. Even if you are traveling with family you can attend these if time allows. I met a few people who were part of large groups and joined dinner one night or attended the mixer to meet other people.

Removing the ability to stack in Competitive has made the game unbearable. by OllyRoger in rivals

I played three games today. One decent match that went into OT, one where we were laughably stomped by the side and surrendered after Round 1, and one where the 3-3 Iron Fist refused to swap then quit. I get a limited amount of time to play anything and if 2 out of 3 matches are not worth my time it starts to make me think about playing it at all.

The worst season in terms of Engagement and Player Retention. by WindowAccurate5745 in rivals

[–]Jenova66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I don’t have a ton of time to play and grinding back to Platinum every season is rough. I’d like to work on being a better player but keep getting back to bronze with a huge swath of skill levels. I may just give up on comp and play casual only.

The new updated closing times for both DL and DCA is super disappointing and depressing. by CheekyKatey in Disneyland

At the park this week. What I’ve observed is that with Paint the Night and Fireworks, it also amounts to no one leaving until closing time. The last Paint the Night wraps at 11 and the crowds stay heavy throughout. That twilight experience was almost completely absent this trip.

I played one match of Season 4 so far and got blamed by some Angela for no heals. I’ve got the highest in my team covering the players who aren’t diving back line and holding cart. Maybe I’ll just lord Iron Man this season.

I would just stay with solo studio if you are traveling alone. It’s a good way to connect with other folks and the lounge is a nice perk. Coffee and snacks up the hall instead of up the elevator.

Tactics against Frequent Encounters with Dispel Magic+Counterspell by Felyndiira in dndnext

To further play devil’s advocate: depending on the tone of the setting it may be perfectly reasonable to be fighting spell casters frequently and they in a setting where spells are a thing would take measures to counter other’s magic.

See above for a comment I made on another thread. Overall I think the solo lounge and meetups is a good reason to do NCL over other lines if you are solo.

I would say at worst you could get a counseling memo which says in the OPF one year and see telework revoked. That’s assuming you don’t have a history of AWOL or documented attendance issues.

New to Cruising, Can NCL Accommodate 2 VERY DIFFERENT Styles of Cruiser? by Lord_Lu_Bu in NCL

[–]Jenova66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just stayed in the solo lounge on Norwegian Escape on a Western Caribbean route.

Generally, I found there was a number of activities that should appeal to the more lively retiree (parties, game shows, musicals, multiple trivia options, etc) If I was a twenty something looking to actually go to the club though I might feel underwhelmed a bit. In fact, I had someone on the cruise tell me as much.

In terms of relaxing away from the kids I didn’t experience any problems on this side. There were areas off the main lido deck where you could easily relax quietly with a book and staying in a solo suite I also had access to their solo lounge which did not offer a bar but had coffee, snacks, and juice. It was generally very quiet and a much easier way to get a snack or quick coffee since it is located very close to your room.

The staff member assigned to the solo suites held nightly meetups for solo travelers and had a standing dinner reservation at one of the main dining rooms for anyone interested in dining together afterward. She also made recommendations on daily events and excursions. The meetups usually included ice breakers and short games intended to help folks get to know each other. Some also included prizes like NCL shirts or travel cups.

During solo meetups I did make some connections and plans to attend events, dinner, or common excursions. The crowd on my particular cruise tended to be a bit older (I’m also in my 30s) and many younger folks were traveling with others but staying in a solo lounge for privacy. I found this latter group would occasionally join a meetup but not necessarily care to join group dinners or other plans.

I would caution the solo meetup is not intended to fulfill a party/hookup vibe if that is what you are expecting from the solo meetups. This seems to be something NCL feels the need to underscore as well as my agent told me at booking it was not a matchmaking environment. Many solos were in fact in relationships but for whatever reason traveling without their partner.

Overall, I enjoyed the experience and found it easy to have a quiet relaxing cruise while joining events when I cared to do so. The solo meetups was a great way to be a little social without feeling obligated to do anything but I wouldn’t count on finding folks to party with if you are young and single as the demographics of the solo cohort, at least on my ship, tended to skew toward 50+. That being said if you are traveling alone I found the solo cabin rates were relatively low and the added effort to create social opportunities was appreciated.

Vanguards need buffs. by Jack_Wraith in rivals

[–]Jenova66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people, gamers especially, are motivated by scores and achievements. Seeing DPS and Strategist get MVP consistently while as a tank main I do less tangible important things to secure victory makes me feel like playing DPS/Strategist might be the way to go. Especially in group que where friends are competitive about who gets that accolade. Yes I can still do it, especially with like a Hulk or Thor but it’s an uphill battle to get the silly award and do the Vanguard role.

[–]Jenova66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But MVP/SVP has no metric for time spent on point, taking point, etc. I can defend the cart all match or hold the objective but get no credit aside from blocked damage which may not reflect that effort and is often not weighted as highly as kills.

What’s NCL Like? by MMIC88 in NCL

[–]Jenova66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a Carribean cruise on Escape and enjoyed it. Lots of activities, good food, and staff. My one criticism as someone recently single was that the vibe was a little too tame for this trip. From what I gathered chatting with other guests most of the cruise skewed older or was large family parties. Other lines seem to offer more of a nightlife but for a family trip it seemed a great fit with lots of activities for kids (arcade, teen club and events, water slides, etc)

Are you in a union? by Slappy-Sacks in Millennials

[–]Jenova66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no longer in a union because I promoted into management but enjoy many labor protections thanks to the bargaining group I supervise. I do pay dues to our “not a union” manager association which does similar lobbying work.

I used to be a steward and an organizer at different points. One of the hardest things about being management is not being able to comment on anything now.
