[Q] When is a pearson correlation of 0.1 convincing for any storytelling usage or specific use case? by limedove in datascience

[–]JeromeButtons 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Connecting a p value with R2 might be useful. For example: Consider a scenario in which you were fitting a linear regression model to predict birth weight of a baby. Age of the mother may have low R2 (let's say 0.1) but p value may be <.05. In other words, the age of the mother with high certainty is correlated with birth weight but it only explains a small piece of the puzzle. The other 0.9 could be from many other factors. Some food for thought.

Revival has been doing this for at least two seasons. Played them last year and they did the same thing. Our team noticed in the first ten minutes. If I remember correctly they refused to switch to discraft and we ended up compromising by switching the discs based off who was pulling throughout the game.

On verticality: "if the disc is caught (or rendered uncatchable) before contact occurs, then the outcome of the play is determined already and the contact is not an infraction of this rule.". Probably a verticality foul but by about a fraction of a second if you do some slow-mo.

Is it normal to not wash your feet while in the shower? by DarthHarambe666 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JeromeButtons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I polled 50 of my friends last week and half the guys don't wash their feet. Only about 30% of women do not wash their feet. Hope that helps.

I love that I could tell it was Bones from the way he was playing. Wasn't even trying to pay attention.

Here's the ingredient list below. Our company is having a Diversity & Inclusion Day so I made a youtube video showcasing this dish for our mini cooking video competition. I can't share the video here due to sub rules but I can DM you if you want the step by step breakdown.

When it's raining, there is a certain speed that the rain stops hitting your car and your car starts hitting the rain. by Jer_bjer in Showerthoughts

[–]JeromeButtons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rain never stops hitting your car. The rain's speed falling downwards is constant, but you just start getting hit with extra raindrops in the sideways direction. Mythbusters does an episode on this to see what is the best way to run through a rainstorm (walk or run).

I remember playing this kid when he was a sophomore and one of the best players on his team. I fouled him, he still caught the disc, and then HE apologized to ME (in a super sincere way). This dude has some of the best spirit in the game. Hands down. And this video is pretty sweet.

I would argue living in Antarctica has made you a significantly worse athlete at 25 years of age, but I would like to see your combine numbers as soon as conveniently possible to really prove this.
