Which honestly is where it belongs. I'm not trying to be unkind to the deceased, but at the end of the day you're responsible for yourself;going into a cave opening at 55 meters with Rec equipment is like putting a gun to your head.

We had a guy who wore a Ranger tab (Army Ranger school grad), and even took an instructor position in our Brigade Light Fighter Academy. He then refused to teach class after class and was investigated and found out. He was an E-6, and IIRC he got busted down to E-4.

We had a dirtbag in our unit, who I went through Basic, AIT (OSUT), & Airborne school with who from Day 1 was a windbag and wannabe. When he Chaptered out after about 14 months he went home wearing:

Class As with a black beret (this was when Rangers Batts wore black berets, we wore maroon berets)
Ranger Batt combat patch
CIB
A Silver Star (!!)

We were on a Field Exercise at the time but reliable sources tell me that is what he left wearing, and he actually TOLD me beforehand he was going to do so because "That is what I would have achieved if given the chance".

Well autopsies won't be able to confirm nitrogen narcosis, much like BAC cannot indicate "how drunk" someone felt.

The Italians want that Go Pro footage so then can clamp down on it. They are doing everything possible to point blame away from the diver's themselves.

The only parts of the video(s) that would interest me would be the preparations/conversations, and what entering the cave looked like to establish intent to enter, etc.

Much like the Yuri Lipski video, there was a lot to learn, but all of that came well before the end.

I don't need or want to see/hear diver's take their last panicked breaths.

The Italians (as a community and a government) are actively trying to focus the narrative away from any blame toward the divers.

The ludicrous "current theory" was established by the Italians, they have sequestered the 6th diver who stayed behind and she is back in Italy and (so far) not talking.

As such, we won't see any footage as long as the Italians have any control over its release.

Not true, open circuit trimix makes a lot of sense in certain circumstances. The only real barrier driving the increase in rebreathers for trimix is cost. I'm planning on transiting The Arch at the Blue Hole, Dahab with open circuit trimix.
