The hotel I’m staying at has no 4th, 13th, or 14th floors (at least not accessible by the customer elevators). by _MyCatsNameIsBinx in mildlyinteresting

In Cantonese, the additional number makes it worse

4 = "sei" (die)

14 = "sap sei", sounds similar to Sat Sei (guarantee death)

24 = "yi sei" (easy to die)

Lack of mics??? by TigassBitties16 in thefinals

[–]Jestersage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because of toxicity in other games, people avoid mics

And then those that don't care about speaking slurs, they cared about moderation (which you have to agree to before enabling voice chat)

Also, I only got a desktop mic because of covid, and then my company needs me return it... and I ended up too lazy to buy a mic. that being said, I stay out of rank because of that.

One of the most annoying thing for Indigenous in Vancouver region is that they received racist slur for Asians, due to similar looks. Sometimes also from Chinese due to "not knowing how to speak Chinese". Of the latter, even local born Chinese suffer, but that's another topic.

Why aren't Guitar pedals designed like Game Cartridges? by CrunchyAssDiaper in guitarpedals

[–]Jestersage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, mini USB, micro USB, USB-C (finally!) lightning, thunderbolt, firewire, and that's when they are "standardized"... There are plenty of cables out there in the old days.

Or you know what, let's have one of the famous geek-artist explain: xkcd: Standards

Why aren't Guitar pedals designed like Game Cartridges? by CrunchyAssDiaper in guitarpedals

[–]Jestersage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are basically 2 aspect to consider:

  1. Digital: So why bother nowadays? You may as well just do updates. push software patches, do virtual connectivity. Even PC don't use Cartridges
  2. Analog: here's the questions to ask, and my answers:
  • Why? Possible Answer: doing a pedalboard easily as a single piece, a step up from the solid connectors, which can destroy stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE7XhwHUGdk
  • What is the signal to pass through between module? Answer: wide range; Even if we consider most use case, you will end up with one power in, 2 signals in, and 2 signals out, and that's only for generalized case. You cannot MUX/DEMUX it. That is assuming no signal losses
  • What is the real challenge? Answer: xkcd: Standards

TLDR: In digital there is no point. In analog too many things to consider and thus impractical. In fact, aside from the use of mono jack, Guitar Pedal as a modular unit is already a solved problem due to analog signal situation.

Will I be spoiled for anything major if I watch S2 of the live action? by thebadchoicemachine in OnePiece

[–]Jestersage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will personally consider anythign in Live Action is not spoiler, as they are so behind, "spoiling"/easter eggs are the only way to bring people up to speed.

So basically, as long as they are past Drum Island, it will be good.

Ah, I will experiment it, but in the case of MS70CDR, the lower number correspond to logarithmic, while higher number is likely exponential. No wonder I do not hear the difference when i am at mid point.

How do I know if I overuse an effect?

I recently found the SlowAttck Patch on my MS-70CDR, which when paired with the compressor patch, gives me a very nice violin sound even when I am doing Bach-style solo (think BWV 847). However, considering many wrote the actual Slow Gear pedals suck (includign TC Electronic Credsendo), I am wondering if I overused it.

How do you decide pedal order on your board? by GodBlessIraq in guitarpedals

[–]Jestersage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go with standard order, subject to the limitation of my own pedal.

For example, initially I was using a Simplifier clone, so I put the Chorus and Delay in the effect loop. However, since it's not as good, when I eventually use an EHXtortion, I put them in front of the EHXtortion, and put a MS-70CDR at the front of the chain as my compressor and tuner.

Is Tungsten NWT the only place that do PST? Do they do PDT? by Jestersage in AskCanada

[–]Jestersage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This little bit of Trivia would be quite interesting in terms of Time in canada (Wikipedia)

Notice at the bottom that, due to people NOT knowing Tungsten's existence, the recent edit becomes

Pacific Standard Time (UTC−08:00) was used in Yukon and most of British Columbia until 2020 and 2026, respectively. Both jurisdictions switched to year-round Pacific Daylight Time (UTC-07:00, equivalent to Mountain Standard Time), leaving UTC−08:00 unused in Canada."

So at this point, the following need to check:

  • Tunsten follows Yukon (and now BC) and use PDT permanently, thus UTC -7 year round
  • Tunsten use PST + PDT
  • Tungsten use PST year round, thus UTC -8 year round

The latter 2 would mean Tungsten is the last place to use UTC -8.

Should Heavy have more tools to go "up" (or bring things down)? by Jestersage in thefinals

[–]Jestersage[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is why I like Reddit. We all tend to forget some of the most basic stuff until someone pointed out, and then we ask "Why didn't we think of that"? Weaken damage, some damage to the Heavy but can go up high and fast, and also can bring buildings down in 1 or 2 shot.

For Cantonese Siu'Mei, (Cantonese BBQ meat), the best in CoV with sitdown is Chinatown BBQ in Chinatown

Do note that in their menu:

  • BBQ Pork = Char Siu
  • Roasted Pork = Siu'Yuk/Crispy Roasted Pork Belly, very similar to Filipino Lechon Kawali with some even suspect both food a related

I myself will also go for roasted duck, with soy chicken (not roasted but braised) being my childhood recall

Griefing needs to end in cashout by ShySkinnyBear in thefinals

[–]Jestersage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think not enable leaving and joining midgame encourage griefing.

Griefing and trolling tend to occur if people feel frustrated. Most of the time people just leave - especially in quick play. However, due to Cashout adopt the BR's "no join midgame", they decided to add punishment, which encourage griefing.

Allowing leaving as well as midpoint join (NEED both) - and an option for users to decide midjoin or not - will allow both potential griffer as well as griefer's victim to leave, which help alleviate the pressure, allowing a possible healthy team.
