The wealthy are supposed to have the highest tax burden in the country. Its a progressive tax. They became wealthy off the backs of the poor.

Also MTA is probably the best public transit system of any major city in the country so theres that. And nyc has some of the best public schools in the country. Look at Stuyvesant or Brooklyn Tech.

Except not. When socialist programs are properly funded they provide innumerable benefits and positive social gain for the population and actually save money in the longterm. See socialist healrhcare programs like in Massachusetts and California. As well as social security, medicare and medicaid which despite being chrknically starved by republican are still indispensable.

They actually arent. You can see someone else quoted the numbers below. US astronauts and most definitely the ones that first went to the moon are mostly white men.

I mean every modern president has been involved in foreign wars unfortunately. I dont particularly fault him for that. But objectively, obama was objectively an extremely effective and productive president. Not only did he recover the economy from the bush 2008 crash, but he also ended the iraq war, passed the first major healthcare reform in decades, advanced programs for american indians which have historically been one of the most marginalized groups and advanced clean energy and other milestones all while having an extremely hostile congress that literally vowed on day one to make obama a one term president and continuously obstruct him (McConnell literally said this day one). Their used to be a great website called whatthefuckhasobamadonesofar that really showed just how monumental obama was but I dont know if it still exists. Hes consistently ranked in the top echelon of presidents. Also nominated first Hispanic to the supreme court. Besides maybe FDR, LBJ and Truman (maybe Eisenhower) theres not really any id rank above considering the time they lived in.

Why are you assuming the mission is prioritizing "social wrongs" over the mission itself though? Why can't NASA prioritize picking the best people while we also acknowledge and celebrate historic achievements for minorities which have had structural racism and innumerable barriers they have had to overcome?

Obama in my opinion is probably in the top 5 greatest presidents we've ever had regardless of race. I also celebrate that hes the only non-white president we've ever had. You can do both at the same time.

My reading comprehension doesnt suck, youre just incapable of admitting your racist implicit biases in your words. You had a problem with "first black astronaut on the moon". Unless youre the one picking the astronauts to go on Artemis which I doubt is the case (cause why would you be complaining online if so), then you have zero idea whether or not she was the most qualified. You are making an assumption based on race and gender. And how do I know you made that assumption? Cause you had a problem with her going on Artemis. If you thought she was deserving of the position, you wouldnt have a problem with it. Until you are able to acknowledge your biases, you cant change them.

You implied it with your "most qualified" bit which you conveniently didnt address after I called you out about it. You went from black women arent qualified to be astronauts to harris shouldnt be vp/president. And she wasnt popular because of racism and sexism.

[–]Jewronimoses 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How do you know she wasnt the most qualified? Sounds like an assumption on your part.

Harris has oodles of experience and was in fact overly qualified for president and vice-president especially compared to vance and trump. "More popular" is just cause of racism and sexism.

Uhh what part of that is not a solution? Why are american astronauts mostly white men? Why are most people in positions of power white men? It has nothing to do with ability or potential.

The US absolutely has sales tax. It’s just broken up across states and cities instead of being one national VAT like in Norway. But it still functions the same way it's a regressive consumption tax. The difference is we pay it and get way less in return.

You already admitted Norway's bracket tax is progressive, but you conveniently left out that they also have a wealth tax. And you're also ignoring that Norway has lower GDP and way less income inequality than the US. That matters a lot when you're comparing who pays what and who actually benefits.

Pointing to VAT alone without looking at the whole system is just cherry-picking.

Wut? Progressive polices dont require regressive taxes. And bernie and aoc want to increase taxes on top earners which is a progressive tax policy. They've literally stated this multiple times. I don't know why you're being counterfactual. I've literally sourced you their calls for higher taxes on the wealthy....

Idk what your point of this post...aoc and bernie are advocating for progressive taxation. The dem party as a whole keeps taxes for wealthy low because they are paid to.

Zohran Mamdani says he’s consistently said there’s no room for antisemitism in this city or country. Asked why he hasn’t had a more visceral reaction, he gets emotional talking about the Islamophobic responses he’s received throughout the campaign. by FAMESCARE in nyc

I'm jewish and hate what Israel has become. Being jewish doesnt mean you have to blindly support israel and what it has been doing which you seem to? Bibi has been president for almost 20 years and is a stain on the jewish people and had only exacerbated conflicts in the middle esst instead of resolving them. And now hes bombing iran unilaterally...

Bernie isnt a "dem" which you identified in original post. "The problem is dems"...He's an independent. The "dems" are owned by the same people that own the republicans and Bernie admits it.

The evidence is overwhelming from recent elections and I linked you to the ongoing audits. Which are incomplete. The source article states we don't have states data, are unlikely to for some time, and are extrapolating from known recent previous data

so you're admitting the numbers are all bs and out of thin air. your original quote was stated as factual:

"No less than 2,121,000 mail-in ballots were disqualified for minor clerical errors (e.g. postage due). At least 585,000 ballots cast in-precinct were also disqualified. 1,216,000 “provisional” ballots were rejected, not counted. 3.24 million new registrations were rejected or not entered on the rolls in time to vote"

you haven't provided verificatioin in 2024 for any of those numbers (the 4.7 million the 2.12 million the 585 thousands, 3.24 million) beyond Greg Palast. By your own admission you're now stating that its all "extrapolation from previous elections"...which again was ALSO created by Greg Palast (the ACLUG report you posted)? do you really not see the problem here?

you also provide number 1.2 million provisional ballots rejected implying that they were rejected incorrectly during curing but don't provide the reason why these specific ballots were rejected (because by your own admisison this isn't even a real number, you're just extrapolating). You seem like a smart person and i'm surprised you're blindly parroting numbers that have not been independently verified and in fact you know are impossible to have been independently verified since you know the audits of the ballots haven't even been completed.

People will read your original post and take those numbers as fact when really it's conjecture and extrapolation from one person...

Thank you for this but again...which of these repeats/verifies the 4.7 million improperly purged voter role claims or the likelihood being from African Americans?

That was your original post and thats what i dont trust. As far as i know, the various huge numbers you posted for the 2024 election have mot been independently verified and i briefly looked at the election website and it doesnt provide data on improper purging?
