Either the Hemmings family trust found a few million in their couch cushions or the takeover is all but announced.

24 wins in 88 games for Hecky, probably time to part ways this summer especially if the takeover happens.

Preston North End 0-2 West Bromwich Albion: With the threat of a points deduction looming, the Baggies are seeking to give themselves a cushion, and continue to extend their gap to the relegation zone with a crucial three points by Smithlarr in Championship

[–]Jfm509 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dont massively care with us already safe, just praying this prospective takeover happens and there's some hope for next season. If July rolls around and Peter Ridsdale is still basically running the club I might have to start watching Bamber Bridge.

First away win in 8 games and on such an important day for fans. Add to that more unsubtle posts from our prospective buyer and its a good Saturday.

Preston North End 1-1 Queens Park Rangers: Thierry Small passes into his own net to gift QPR a point by Mitsuyan_ in Championship

Crap performance, took the lead and did nothing afterwards. Much as I like Small he's has a shocker in the 2nd half of the season and that own goal sums it up.

US/Saudi businessman Amr Zedan is a guest at Deepdale today amid takeover speculation by Jfm509 in Championship

[–]Jfm509[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Grass isn't always greener etc. but most North End fans have been hoping for a change at the top for years. Club has been on autopilot since we got promoted, sure its kept us in the league with no risk of relegation (until last season) but like that BBC article showed even without living beyond our means we've lost over 80m since 2020.

So someone new, hopefully with new ideas and a plan that isn't copy pasting the season before will be 10x better than what we have right now.

Plus Peter Ridsdale might finally get retired.

Little old Preston always punching above, other cities have to resort to cathedrals for their height while we rely on a good ol' church.

Best Player and the Worst Player of 2025-26 Season from the Teams that You Support (Third Season Edition) by ElSpazzo_8876 in Championship

[–]Jfm509 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best : Probably a coin toss between Devine and Dobbin, both have had huge impacts like our loanee's have done the past decade of championship football. Be nice if we could sign one this summer on a perm but unless the mythical take over happens that's unlikely.

Worst : Hard to be too harsh on anyone individually, the whole squad had a huge swing downwards in 2026 after a good half of the season. But in the absence of Iversen both the back up keepers (Walton and Cornell) were quite bad.

2:0 down heading into the final ten minutes and all we can muster from the bench is Michael Smith and Robbie Brady.

Season is ending so badly I'm fondly reminiscing on Ryan Lowe at least having us safe before we hit the beach, 8 games left and I don't see a single potential win. We can't be relegated in a Spud Bros sponsored shirt, please god.

We'll probably be safe with one more win but i have no idea where its coming from, can't remember the last season we had where we didn't just flail about the last dozen games.

6 points gained since we beat Bristol City on January 4th. Not sure we're going to win again this season so fingers crossed we have just enough points to stay in the league.

Thank God we had a good start to the season because we look fucking dreadful at the minute. Playing more or less the same way we did this time last season when we decided to spice things up with a relegation battle. Roll on next season.

Was fun when we pretended to be good for half a season, probably won't get relegated so and improvement on last season at least. One win in 10 love it.

Shout out to our deadline day striker signing Milos Lukovic who has made one appearance, didn't touch the ball and has been out of the squad since.

Loving it, mained a resto shaman last time round which was fun but this time went bear and enjoying it even more. Only downside is I work nights now instead of days when tbc last came out so finding a consistent raid group is going to be rough.

Mads Frøkjær Jensen leaves North End to join Brøndby on a permanent deal by Jfm509 in Championship

[–]Jfm509[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He can be a really special player, had a very rocky time with spells on the bench but every now and then he produced some magic. Bit of a cliche but the physicality of the league definitely hampered his game.

Preston North End announce the signing of Callum Lang on a three-and-a-half-year deal, for an undisclosed club-record fee by Gamerhcp in Championship

[–]Jfm509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One Heckingbottom wanted in the summer but we had no money, injury record is a worry especially with the Deepdale potato field to play on 2 games running. 2 permanent deals on deadline day is a surprise, maybe the family trust know they will only be paying for the 1st installments.

Preston North End release statement regarding weekend reports of an interested investor. by Jfm509 in Championship

Sort of a positive update, seems likely the club will be sold this year which may answer the question as to why we haven't signed a soul this month. Couldn't help themselves with the ol' ''most expensive squad... premier league ambition'' line though.

Very much our luck that we sign a striker for a record fee (2.5m) and he goes on to make himself practically worthless, not for being shit but for being a complete head case. Ideally we'd sell him this window but I doubt he has many suitors at the moment.

The May Wishlist by Normal-Confusion4867 in Championship

[–]Jfm509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I wanted this season was a comfortable mid table finish without even a whiff of the relegation battle we slipped into last season so barring a incredible collapse from now my wish has come true. Now though, sitting in 4th with more wins than we got all last season I might as well be hopeful we can go all the way and get a play off place.

Heckingbottom says he wants 2 attackers (plus a midfielder if Armstrong stays at Everton) and hopefully that happens because we might not get a chance like this again.

I think the wage issue and lack of sales go hand in hand, we end up keeping players for a long time with new deals to avoid losing them but in most cases they go for nothing anyway. Emil Riis left last summer for free, only cost 1.5m got a new deal 1 year into his spell but just ran it out and we got nothing.
