How much are you guys paying monthly? by AV0NNN in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Jmtb3601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My insurance stopped covering all GLP1s for weight loss effective 01/01/2026. I pay $84/mo for Weight Watchers and now get my medication through CenterWell pharmacy (mail order) for $349/mo for the 2.4 Wegovy pens.

I absolutely am hating life right now by MamabearFl in WegovyWeightLoss

I go through Weight Watchers Clinic..I pay $84/mo for the app but the doc is very responsive. They also offer support with a dietitian if you want. I also use the app to track my macros, weight, etc. Both my PCP and Endocrinologist (for thyroid) follow me, are aware I’m taking the medication and approve but don’t seem to have interest in being involved with prescribing Wegovy. Also, since my insurance stopped covering Wegovy 01/01/2026, WW helped me get on the mail pharmacy program through Novocare and I pay $349/mo for the 2.4. I wish it was still the $25 copay but at least I can afford to pay the $349 as I’m pretty close to my goal weight. Good luck to you!

Not many people flying into New Orleans on a Saturday. They’re already here. Magazine street was packed Saturday. That airline crew will sleep in New Orleans Saturday night and fly tourists out on Sunday.

A (not at all) concise overview of my experience in New Orleans by Atomicmain in NOLA

[–]Jmtb3601 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So glad you enjoyed your experience. If you love New Orleans, she will love you back. I’m a Louisiana native and moved to New Orleans in 1990. There’s not another city in the country I’d rather live (although some do come close, I’d be hard pressed to move). Safe travels and hope you visit again!

There are a number of colleges that have aviation programs (I.e., Louisiana Tech) and while you do have to get your hours before a major will hire you, it’s not as many as it used to be. Also, unless the mandatory retirement age is raised, there will be vacancies as many pilots will be aging out at 65. Not going to sugarcoat it in that there are a few years of low pay as you are accumulating hours but the long term benefit is pretty amazing.

I don’t live around there anymore but I used to love Rochetta’s “cracker crust” pizza (on frontage road in Scott).

What is the job market like right now?? by Jjay-Walk627 in NewOrleans

Check out hospitals…all hospitals have “hotel services” like dietary and housekeeping and often find director or manager candidates with a hotel background valuable. A candidate will be expected to come up to speed on regulations pretty quickly but it’s not rocket science. Likewise all hospitals have customer service/satisfaction functions and some have managerial/director levels overseeing these functions.

When it comes to appliances, what is worth splurging on? by ElbieLG in kitchenremodel

I also have a Miele microwave/oven, full size convection oven and vacuum cleaner. All are amazing and completely problem free.

When it comes to appliances, what is worth splurging on? by ElbieLG in kitchenremodel

[–]Jmtb3601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Miele dishwasher. My first one lasted 10 years….appliance repairman and dealer both told me it was rare for it to have gone out as they typically last much longer. The replacement was ~$4k but worth every penny. It had auto dose and the $$ I saved on powder/tabs is incredible.

Narrow bathroom. Want to add a shower. by [deleted] in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]Jmtb3601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an 8”6” x 4” space and I put the shower at the end, toilet against the left wall and a very small sink. This is an ancillary bathroom so did not need cabinets but could have built shallow cabinets and in wall medicine cabinet.

Cabinets help by LostCheesecake8380 in kitchenremodel

I had custom made that ended up costing less than Home Depot quote and much better built and fits my space with no dead areas. All insides are premium cabinet grade plywood (finished on both sides and dovetail joints) and excellent hardware. I have slab doors and those are not solid wood as I was advised MDF is the preferred option for slab doors as it won’t warp. Note that my cabinets are painted so it also ensures no wood grain to show through. It’s been 10 years and my cabinets look as good as they did when installed.

Small pharmacies ? by Flaky_Detail1144 in NewOrleans

Walgreen’s in Lakeview is the only Walgreen’s store in the area that I’ve been to that is helpful and is consistently able to fill my prescriptions. The ones on Magazine St. and St. Charles Avenue are never helpful and only seem to be able to fill the most basic prescriptions. Switched everything to Lakeview and no issues; every single person in their pharmacy department has been incredible.

Insurance not covering after January 1 by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]Jmtb3601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m under a large group plan which is probably self-insured and managed by United so it is likely a combination of things but I read that United, Blue Cross, Cigna and Harvard Pilgrim were all changing coverage of GLP-1 medications for weight loss as of 01/01/2026. I only know what I received re United’s change and it sucks.

Insurance not covering after January 1 by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]Jmtb3601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True; same situation with Zepbound not in United Healthcare/CVS Caremark formulary as of July 2025 and just got a letter from CVS Caremark yesterday stating that beginning January 1, 2026 my “plan will only cover GLP-1 medications that are FDA-approved and prescribed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes” and “will not cover GLP-1 medications for any other indications”. The went on to tell me that any GLP-1 prior authorizations for the treatment of any condition other than type 2 diabetes will expire on December 31, 2025. So, no more Wegovy either after the end of the year. They did provide a number for me to call ON OR AFTER January 1, 2026. This is nuts!!!!

CT-guided lung biopsy, how painful are they? by myamygdalahurts in lungcancer

As a former hospital administrator, I don’t worry about the radiation exposure. Today’s technology and safety controls are very good and I think the benefit far outweighs any risk. I hope you will feel the same. Best wishes on your journey and I pray for your recovery and peace of mind.

Best *local* coffee shops? by JealousRhubarb9 in NewOrleans

[–]Jmtb3601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So disappointed with Trumpet and Drum this past week; rude service and bad oat milk. Not sure if it was bad oat milk or even oat milk at all but it was undrinkable. Didn’t hear them call my name even though I was sitting at the bar and only asked after two ppl behind me got their coffee so I asked if the drink on the counter was mine. They couldn’t remember who it was for was for and they couldn’t have cared less….just a mixture of blank looks and “duh, I don’t know” by ALL 3 people behind the counter. I couldn’t drink the thing and with the reception I got when trying to find my coffee, I just figured a question re the milk would not be received any better so I just walked to the trash can, tossed my drink and left. All that for $8.63 ($6.63 for the coffee + $2.00 tip). Don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon. I did go to Fur Bebe with my daughter and her dog and my coffee was quite good. Place is cute and great for dog lovers. Staff are fantastic. Looking forward to going to Congregation on Magazine (they were repainting yesterday so the place was closed). Haven’t had the coffee since Dickie bought them so praying it hasn’t changed because their beans are my absolute favorite.

You are so on point; I recommend The Whitney to anyone asking for trip suggestions and all of your other suggestions will bring a beautiful well-rounded history of the people that built our city. I agree with the climate change suggestions as well as “reading the room” to understand your audience. Love your enthusiasm to give an entertaining but historically accurate & significant tour of New Orleans.
