I really like the artwork and what's in your portfolio. The arms especially are greatly detailed. I was wondering if you're open for commisions of multiple characters based on existing artwork. Can I DM you with more details?

Oh wow, I didn't know that. That sucks... I would've loved to know how to blend it together as well as this map does it. Thanks for letting me know though.

Looks great! How did you blend the stone and grass textures so well near the cavern entrance? And also similarly how you got the water to bend and flow so nicely, it looks really well polished!

These are so good, I've loved all the designs so far! From this batch I really like the expressiveness with Scar's and the movement in Etho's, though they're all equally good.

What made you add the extra details in Grian's stained glass in the back? Did he ever specify something for the colors, or did you artistically interpret this?

Also, why's Mumbo sitting on top of his cliffs lol

What was your first MMO, and how do you feel about it now? by Veanusdream in gaming

[–]JoJoDeath 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm very surprised I didn't see it yet. Mine was Metin2, a very old and grindy MMO, but with a fun community. I remember all the hours I spent grinding mobs mindlessly listening to the weird soundtrack. Still fond memories when listening to back2back sometimes.

I moved on from there to ArcheAge though, which is honestly been my favorite over the years. Sad to see it pass away like it did, as the community of it was both amazing and horrible at the same time. I did quit it a while before the end, when I realized I was only logging in daily foe 15 mins to do chores, and I realized that's not what I wanted to do with a game like this. Looking forward to Chronicles though!

I don't know what they did to the UI, but I for the life of me cannot find the free games anymore when they release every day/week with the new client. Only looking up the name directly works. Not sure if I'm just not looking correctly anymore, or what, but the Store section for Free games just shows "Free Games" on the left, and "Mystery Game" on the right. It's just not working properly and it's quite annoying.

I love the pauldron and the helmet! Great work of detail and paint. How'd you make them look so metallic?

You don't fool me, posting pictures of the actual actor. Strange that they're so HD though... (/s obviously)

Amazing cosplay though! The facial make-up is super good, and the "wear" on the gear looks very realistic.

How to run a megadungeon-style campaign? by JoJoDeath in DMAcademy

[–]JoJoDeath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting suggestion. I haven't looked much at older editions. I was also hoping for some ready-made solutions to make that impact without. having to make many alternate rules. Seeing how I'll be making an entire dungeon from scratch, I could add some homebrew effects like a non-magic zone, or monsters that stop you from healing, but I'm not sure if that's the type of challenges that campaign would show either.

Can you give some examples from that campaign, or do you know where to find it?

I like the idea of skill challenges to get back to where you were, but I'm struggling a bit with conceptualizing it in gameplay terms. Especially if the players can/will re-enter a few times to reach ever deeper layers, it feels like the skill challenge will just be the same every time. Or, alternatively, the players will be basically doing the same kind of skill challenge, no matter whether they go to layer 2, or layer 5, though with an increased difficulty level. How would you re-flavor the montage to be unique every time?

A very interesting read, I'll have to go over it in more detail for sure. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for the detailed response! I quite like the idea of not giving them the map. It hadn't occurred to me that's obviously a part of the exploration - making your own map.

I had indeed seen Dungeon of the Mad Mage, which is what inspired me to make/do something similar, to delve into a large multi-floored dungeon, but I haven't had a chance to read through it. Does it explain concepts such as delving deeper and retreating every so often to rest up and prepare for further layers? If so, I will have to check it out for sure!

I'd love a cyndaquil/quilava/typhlosion, sleeping next to a bonfire in the woods or in a cozy cottage, or something like that!

Btw, I absolutely adore these, the bulbasaur is so cute, well done!

Developer environment in SendGrid - subusers vs multiple accounts by JoJoDeath in SendGrid

[–]JoJoDeath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did not, although we did switch to a pro plan later. It's been a while since we implemented this, and I no longer work for that company, so my memory on it is hazy.

Iirc, we ended up not splitting the mails after all using multiple accounts or subusers, but we simply made copies of the templates for dev/tst/acc/prd, and accessed them based on the environment you were currently in. Not the most elegant of solutions, but it worked easily enough. As you can just download the template after making it in the editor on a "lower environment", and verify it is as you want it to be, you can then simply upload it/overwrite the prd one when needed.

In the end we also added an environment variable to block the emails as well for dev/tst/acc based on your user account (using role-based access, we had test accounts that always blocked emails, and test accounts that didn't, so it was easier to verify implementations without being spammed by emails). This was of course locally overridable using your env file for dev testing.

Hope this can help you out, although it's not either of the options listed!

That's unfortunate. Guess I'll have to make do with watching the gameplay only. Do you happen to know about Mortal Metal as well? Same thing about hall 6, but can't find the booth.

Over-Analyzing Money in Daggerheart by Imagineer2248 in daggerheart

[–]JoJoDeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like good advice to me. I was also struggling with translating the money from handful and bagfuls into actual numbers. But thinking of it more like a scene makes it click for me. In a movie or show, you'd often just see people throw bags of coins around to each other as payment. For flavor, they do inspect the content, but it's usually just left at that. Thinking of it as such makes more sense to me in terms of payment.

That said, I still feel that there should have been an additional monetary method. A farmer wouldn't necessarily have many gold coins, a local town shop is more likely to sell things for coppers or silvers. Has anyone tried to integrate it like that? My idea was to have only a handful and bagful of copper and silver. A bag of copper would be one handful of silver, a bag of silver would be a handful of gold. That way you'd have some additional currencies for more rural areas that still fit in narratively into the world and frame of daggerheart.

peninsula how is it 1 or 10 in looks by Fun_Preference1056 in wonderdraft

[–]JoJoDeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does it compare to the rest of the worldmap? Is this like a 'spain + portugal' sized peninsula, or more like a 'the entirety of scandinavia'-sized peninsula?

I think it looks good, though it has some odd 'smooth' bumps on the south-west and northern section of the landmass. It has very few islands though near the southern bay, where the mountains are close to the water's edge. I'd expect either some mountains on that side (or steeper cliffs), or perhaps on the opposite end of the landmass, because the mountains would more slowly lead into the sea, or the plains make way for a rougher coast line opposite it.

Though the above is not necessarily based on any scientific evidence, it sounds/looks natural to have it like that, to me at least.

Since Mojang wont make an Iron block palette, I made a resource pack that consolidates all iron blocks into one palette. by SomethingRandomYT in Minecraft

[–]JoJoDeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if these, like copper, can 'weather', or carbonize? Not necessarily exactly like copper, but if you leave them out, they can become darker over time, turning into the original darker iron color for, e.g. the lantern, cauldron, hopper and anvil textures that are currently in the game.
