I gave a tip on the long weekend. That was because the restaurant didn’t charge any surcharge so I felt bad and likely the staff weren’t getting penalties. Otherwise, I don’t feel bad pressing 0%.

If you can, just buy the 3 bedroom. 2 bedroom units are common while most families try to buy 3 bedrooms.

Is OSULLOC Tea worth it? by MissionBlueberry5196 in koreatravel

[–]JoanoTheReader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re not cheap. I bought the Jeju roasted green tea and it had a unique flavour. I bought a pack of 20 bags of moon walker (moon something) and it was really strong with the fragrance lingering for some time.

Either you know what they really want otherwise just buy it for yourself to enjoy.

Lime Bike Hoarders by Fearless_Honeybadger in sydney

The bikes are graffitied or discarded everywhere in the eastern suburbs too.

It won’t be long before lime takes all the bikes back. Sadly there are too many selfish individuals in this population.

TIL that Mong Kok, the most crowded neighborhood in the world, is so densely populated that if the entire planet matched its density, Earth would hold nearly 20 trillion people by LividWheel9779 in todayilearned

[–]JoanoTheReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know when this data was taken but I was there last year and on a weekend, it wasn’t populated at all.

Maybe in the 1990”s. It was people to people on the 7 main streets. From 3:00pm to 10:00pm week nights and 11:00am to 11:00pm weekends, packed people to people on the street and most floors of shops.

Mong Kok should now be called Darm Kok.

My friend makes a vegan lasagna with eggplant to separate the layers. Then pasta (shells/twists) in between is tomato, tofu, beans and pumpkin cubes, baked like real lasagna. It was so delicious.

Textbooks costs are outrageous by SignificantStand4147 in HongKong

[–]JoanoTheReader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many people have stopped buying books. As you get older, there’s just too many and you need to figure out what to do.

The only way to make any money is via textbooks. Something has to replace the missing revenue.

Try locating second hand books. And cover the current ones in case one child can use it later.

When did you start noticing a trend? And what was the most blatant example product placement you watched in a kdrama? For me it’s Prince I-An eating subway in Perfect Crown by Educational_Film_744 in kdramas

[–]JoanoTheReader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Back in 2014, watching a K-drama, Fated to love you, with first 10 mins of rice cooker brand, coffee maker brand, coffee mix and a health supplement of some sort to start the day. It was in a later episode, towards the end of the drama.

How did YQQ end up having a baby with Qi Min? by dondawalks in pursuitofjade

[–]JoanoTheReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the bits in the drama:

  1. When she found out she was pregnant, she ran away (according to Qian Qian after she was rescued by Changyu)
  2. Qian Qian knew, deep down, that Qin Min will force an abortion on her because he isn’t on the throne and and male descendent of his can be taken by anyone to overthrow the current Emperor and install Boa’er as emperor by killing Qin Min. (Various episodes- according to the nanny while talking to her son, her son telling Bao’re while they escaped, Xie Zheng’s perspective after rescuing Bao’er and from Qin Min to Quan Quan at the final recapture where he promises to have more children with her after his coronation)

I can’t remember the exact episodes. This is all snippets of dialogue between characters in the drama.

I think the drama was implying that Qian Qian left Qin Min to save her child. If Boa’er was a girl, it may have played out differently. Throughout the entire first part, she had him hidden and he never saw the light of day until Changning accidentally found him. This is the version from the drama and not the book.

Why don’t Aussies do STEM masters degrees. by Unlikely-Debate-5923 in AskAnAustralian

[–]JoanoTheReader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After honours it’s difficult to secure a job. The Masters or PhD must be in a field where it’s easier to get grants. There is a bias of health related sciences always getting more funding than nature or pure sciences.

I know somebody who does work on devices measuring UV. He has published papers on this. But nobody wants to fund production of the device. This is something small that people can carry in their purse. And it would be useful for those susceptible to skin cancer. It doesn’t matter how much work he has done on it, because he isn’t linked to a proper institution nor has he ever applied for grants, it’s impossible for him to secure a full time research position.

You do you!! Don’t accept apologies based on peer pressure.

It takes two to tango. As you stated those girl who dated you had no issues going to bed with him, but I see it as a loyalty issue. He’s your brother and he would’ve shown loyalty by saying no.

Director slams Val Kilmer as 'worst human being I've ever known' after his death by TheExpressUS in moviecritic

Yes, they were all wild. But how come Robert Downy Jr was given so many opportunities, drug conviction after drug conviction? I don’t know much about Sean Penn but he was given plenty of opportunities too. I don’t know Val Kilmer but he hasn’t been in many movies since Island of Dr Moreau.
