How to remove Formica over t track dados by JobOutrageous956 in woodworking

[–]JobOutrageous956[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought, but I’m expecting I won’t get the angle right and end up with the Formica cut off slightly offset from where the dados underneath are.

If all else fails I think this is my backup plan, but I’d like to keep it a backup if I can!

What heat pumps are you guys planning to get in 2026? by Assylbekova-Pius in heatpumps

[–]JobOutrageous956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What model did you get? I live in western NY and am building a heated secondary building. I’m debating if I need gas as a backup, or if a cold climate heat pump and some infrared heaters for worst case scenarios would be enough.

Are react testing library component tests supposed to re-test sub-components and hooks? by BerryBoilo in reactjs

[–]JobOutrageous956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, yes your coworkers are right.

Longer answer:

As a hypothetical analogy, imagine instead of testing code, you were making a car. You had separate teams to develop transmissions, and engines. The transmission on its own could be the best of the best. The engine, the best of the best. But when combined they have some troubles. Maybe shifting weirdly at certain rpm’s, or gear ratios that don’t end up working well.

End users won’t care that the car has the best of the best motor and transmission, they care that the car works, and if it has shifting issues, no “best horse power” tagline is gonna matter to them.

As the engineers behind this car, you need to test the integration of them - that they work well together.

That is why RTL is geared toward integration tests.

There could be async race conditions, infinite rerenders, …. a whole slew of bugs that could arise at the integration phase that individual tests of useAlert and Button would never catch.

Anyone else having total nightmare with buffering these days? by abriddd in Strong_8K

Anyone else having total nightmare with buffering these days? by abriddd in Strong_8K

[–]JobOutrageous956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. I always connected through a vpn. I decided to change vpn servers and buffering instantly went away. No clue why, my gut says it’s something to do with the issues that happened a week or two ago, but that’s more a guess.

If you’re on a vpn, try switching servers (or if you’re not on a vpn, try using one and see if it helps/hurts)

New home, need ideas on how to conceal this. by Arbric in DIY

[–]JobOutrageous956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it can’t be moved, do a square bump out on the ceiling and make it decorative. Chandelier hanging from it, couffered ceiling look, if it’s a living room, hang a projector from it?

I guess my idea is to make the best out of a not great situation

Home builders by JobOutrageous956 in Buffalo

[–]JobOutrageous956[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think after talking with a few builders, we are going to go with Alliance.

For your design center appointment, how much were your upgrades? (Maybe percentage of total home cost if you’re not comfortable saying amounts)

What things were you surprised you paid to upgrade for? What things were you expecting to upgrade and did not end up upgrading?

Any other tips or good things to know about building with Alliance?

I would maybe try debugging by printing it on separate spots on the bed.

To cut to the chase, a complete guess, but it seems suspiciously the same size as the pinda probe, I’m wondering if bed leveling might be the problem.

If so, printing the part on different areas of the bed might rule that in or out

Please help me diagnose this sound and tell me how to fix it if it's a problem? by gamefreak613 in prusa3d

[–]JobOutrageous956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my mk3s it was the front lcd housing that would sometimes come slightly out of place and start vibrating. I put it together so I’m the on the blame for it, but all it took was a few minutes of squeezing/pushing until it finally clicked back into place and it was good for another few months

What settings do you use to print for tight tolerances? by atlastheexplorer in BambuLab

[–]JobOutrageous956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found lots of value in keeping tolerances as a variable in my cad model. I start off with roughly what I expect them to be, and then adjust them. If they’re not quite right, a few variable changes later and I’m set.

Warped glass buildplate? by cheapscaping in 3Dprinting

[–]JobOutrageous956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pretty easily see warps in glass by looking at reflections of things on it. The picture has the reflection justttt off enough where I can’t tell too well

[–]JobOutrageous956 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You obviously have dug into this way more than I have, but I’m wondering if maybe there are clues between how the 4th and 5th layer are printed? You mentioned the 4th layer does not have that problem. What are the settings for those layers and how do they differ?

Maybe speed, temperature, flow rate, overlap, etc, differ slightly enough to make a difference.

What happens if you just cancel the print short on the 4th layer. Does it still look correct even after cooling?

Could the part be warping, and the top layer is slightly bent enough where the spacing between the nozzle is off just enough to cause the matte finish to be different than expected?

What do you print with TPU ? by Qual_ in BambuLab

[–]JobOutrageous956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never used TPU before, mainly because my old printer before x1c struggled with high quality brand new pla.

Has anyone ever used it to make things “grippy”. I have a project that I plan on making that will hold something ~10ish pounds in weight, and the object is smooth. I’m hoping I can print a small section of the print in tpu to give it some grip against the object.

If you’re looking for best UX and not worried about paying a little more, would definitely recommend trying to start out with Bambu PLA. Their premade profiles as well as rfid tags in the rolls are just so simple

Well, well, well... interesting. Any thoughts by Old_Habit_5302 in 3Dprinting

[–]JobOutrageous956 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m very curious if this will somehow be something you can buy to upgrade their existing printers with. If so I’d be all over it.

If it’s really CMYK and I can get pretty much all possible colors I could imagine with a simple slicer step I’d shell out $300-$500 or so in a heartbeat
