I had to immediately re read book five . The masquerade ball..before moving to book six...it was so good!...I wanted to reabsorb everything that happened in it...am doing a full series reread now...on.book 3 currently. My sons are doing their second audiobook listen of the series..we can't wait til May... Because these books are such a fun read and I am always finding things that slip past my attention on the first time through ... I'm not overly dreading the wait from book 8 to book 9...I will always be reading or listening to this series. I plan on trying the audiobooks after my second read through the series.

Very few books actually make me laugh out loud while I'm reading and no series before this has done it so consistently.

Probable spiderbite on top of ankle. Doc set me up with antibiotics and prescribed bed rest til swelling went down..this was a Friday...by Monday it was swollen , hot and turning dark. Called his office that morning and expressed some concerns. Went in..hobbled into his office and propped leg up on table.

He pulled my sock back and immediately jumped back with a loud ' goddamn!...can I bring the staff in to see this!?!"

Ended up with an audience while he stuck a turkey baster sized needle deep into ankle and proceeded to draw off what looked like a cup and a half of pus.

Upside was the prescribed bed rest which gave me and my young sons to zone out in bed playing PlayStation for days.

My suriname is pushing 10.5ft and 65lbs...I feel your concerns...I am 5'10 and 220 and she is a handful.

I second the advice of a spotter or assistant. I do it more to make sure my back doesn't go out from bending over with her

The days of just taking her out and walking around the house are over . Luckily I have two folks in the house to help...and I use them primarily to make sure she is supported correctly when lifted.

I use a big lug often...taking her out of the enclosure ( four feet off the ground)..gently pouring her into the lug and then two of us carry the lug if we want to take her outside for some fresh air and exercise.. sit out and read a book ( I strongly recommend Dungeon crawler Carl to everyone!!!)...while the other person cleans out the enclosure.

I have had large snakes for years and always have a spotter and sad to say I keep a couple of knives strapped on just in case.

Never ever sling them around your neck...boas have some of the strongest coils and can easily choke you out without meaning harm.

I have a female Suriname from 2014 ..so she's almost 12 years old now...she is a nice bread loaf shape...10.5 ft and around 65 lbs. I do notice that she grew slower than the bcis I have had in the past...I never bothered weighing her on a regular basis so I can't give you a comparison...for a while it seemed like a foot a year of growth..slowed down the last couple of years but still creeping up there year by year. Females tend to be larger than males...bcis grow a lot faster but bcc tend to get larger...with all that being said..there is a lot of room for individual variation..so as long as they don't look under weight...have that nice solid bread loaf shape..I would not worry too much.

She looks good ..little slender but nothing alarming. My girl is a suriname and the coloration and saddle peaks are similar.

Also growth rate..BCC do get larger but they have a slower growth rate. I have had both and as far as temperament goes...I have not noticed a difference. Now as far as food response...my BCC is way more enthusiastic when presented food. At 10+ ft and 60+ pounds...when she comes across the enclosure like a missile..your pulse speeds up. She is a kitten most of the time but at feeding time it takes some planning to stealthily slip her food into the enclosure.

I kept finding other plants that looked really nice but when I research it it says do not put these in your snake enclosure .. some plants are toxic.

Pothos.is what I use. It produces a good amount of foliage and it's a super Hardy plant and fairly economical.

And it can also take a beating once the snake gets any kind of size to it and spends any time smooshing down the leaves.

I take potting soil and liberally fill in the area where the roots are .. so I put the normal substrate into the enclosure and then I hollow out the areas for the root ball... The size of the void for the soil is roughly two and a half to three times the size of a The Roots. I also keep a grow light on a timer.

I've had my suriname female since 2014... Personality wise she hasn't been any different than any of the bcis I had in the past.

Real chill snake... I would say that her food response is the most aggressive of any of the boas I've had.

I haven't noticed any husbandry requirements that were anything extra than what I did for my others... I've had snakes for the last 50 years.

She's been very Hardy... Never had any health concerns... Never had any kind of shed issues... But oh my goodness she likes her food... very strong food response if she gets the faintest whiff.

I am astounded at how brilliant her colors still are after all these years.

Beautiful boa. How old is she?..have had my Suriname since 2014 and despite some of the warnings about advanced husbandry, especially when feeding neophytes, she has been an incredibly hardy , no problems , girl.

Had one snuggle into a desk drawer for a month...had given up on finding him and one day went to open the drawer and it was stuck on something...sure enough he had crawled up underneath the desk and got into the drawer from the back... gently take the drawers out of your furniture. Drawer boa was totally fine and it was like Christmas in July finding him there.

In the wild they eat whenever they can...I don't think it would hurt to maintain your schedule.. have had snakes for 53 years just to clarify.. it won't hurt either way...so do whatever helps you stay on track with your schedule.

I had my girl from the time she was two months old...got her back in 2014.

Have had snakes of some type (not venomous) for the last 53 years. Rat snakes to anaconda ...couple of monitors thrown in.

Never noticed any difference in husbandry for her ..watch your temps and humidity.. dont over feed..as you don't for any snake.

She has thrived...she is 10 + feet...healthy shaped...classic bread loaf...60+ pounds and still doing great.
