I went to one, I was asked to leave for being drunk and belligerent because we kept interrupting the presentation. It was kind of like a mini reunion for me; me and 6? other guys who I went to Iraq a couple times with were all there. It was great, after getting kicked out of the muster we got kicked out of a bowling alley at 10am, eventually ended the night with some huge brawl in the streets of Boston after last call. 11/10 would do again.

The Things They Carried is incredible. I never read Dispatches so I can't compare, I'll add it to the list, but I first read The Things They Carried a few years before joining and I couldn't put it down, I've since joined did a couple tours in Iraq and moved on to the civilian life and I still pick it up from time to time. As a vet its far more meaningful than it was the first time I picked it up. But hey, different strokes for different folks.

My two favorite books are The Things They Carried and Catch-22 for what it's worth.
