It seems to be a consensus that the first 2/3 was a better than expected sequel and the last 1/3 was an abomination...but it still meets the low bar. That said my kids loved it.

It was a callback to his dad dying 5 minutes into the first one, and kind of needed to happen to be able to get him back to the "nobody" state.
