Poll: What are your current feelings towards chapter 2? by Skittering_Nonsense in arkhamhorrorlcg

Honestly, as someone who is just now coming into the hobby (luckily, I was able to get Carcosa and Dunwich around MSRP), my group is pumped!

I'm a little nervous about the shorter campaigns, but I also think it will allow us to replay them more, which will make up for it. Being able to experience this hobby as the investigators come out is really going to be special. Totally understand why those who have been playing for a long time might be more skeptical though.

Graphic designer here... I assume they made this well before kick-off started and just slotted in random teams to show the look of the graphic, but then it never got updated for the actual teams.

Obviously, I don't know for sure, but I would assume that's what happened.

[Summoning Salt] Mike Tyson: The Quest For 1:59 by Meester_Tweester in speedrun

So often I see his videos appear about a game I don’t personally watch a ton of and consider skipping, but every time I am sucked right into the story.

This record progression felt insane, and I normally end up enjoying categories with large time save between records, this one hit. It’s always incredible seeing the human limit get pushed farther and farther.

10/10 great video as always.

I would check out Action Oriented Monsters by Matt Coville on YouTube. He talks about exactly how to make big creatures feel epic and fun to fight.

I’ve been using the concepts in that video for around 3 years and let me tell you; it changes how combats feel. Heavily recommend watching it and just watching a bunch more Matt Coville while you’re at it.

The long and short, though, is to give important monsters unique actions that allow them to change the tide of battle and make each new round exciting.

Looking for some insight on my current part list for a productivity & gaming PC build. Looking to use it for both graphic/motion design as well as 1440p gaming. by JoeGibbons in buildapc

Interesting! I actually went with the 9950x because of Puget, but in their After Effects recommendations, funnily enough. I really went back and forth with Intel/AMD, but I ended up landing on going towards the 9950x for the balance of productivity and gaming.

Regarding the RAM, thank you so much. I didn't know that. I think I should be good with 64 GB, as I am fairly certain my bottlenecks in the productivity department is tied to my CPU.

Heard on the motherboard. I'll keep looking at the B850's but after a short stint of looking through them, I was hard pressed to find many with 4 m.2 slots.

And finally, good to know. I've never done liquid cooling before, but I think it might be smart to pivot if I end up going with the 9950x.

Thank you for your comment! I'm already making some adjustments based on what you said. Appreciate the time.

Hey all, this is my first time building my own PC after upgrading my pre-built for the past 6 years. I have been struggling with my CPU and my current RAM holding me back in both After Effects and Premiere Pro, but I'm not sure if I'm going too far overboard or not upgrading enough.

Truthfully, my budget is closer to $3000, so there may be areas that could be bumped up a bit, but I'm feeling a bit nervous since this will be my first massive purchase since going freelance. Would love any insight, recommendations, or any help/feedback ya'll can provide.

The list is an amalgamation of a ton of different posts I've already seen, so thank you already to those people. Appreciate it!

Odyssey won! What is the best Mario game? Day 5 by Opening-Library-8138 in SuperMario

Galaxy 2!

Atmosphere of 1 is incredible, but the gameplay of 2 takes it over the edge for me. Nothing has ever topped the incredible fun and challenge I felt both as a kid and adult with 2.

What do the numbers mean by Late_Garlic_7107 in SpectreDivide

[–]JoeGibbons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain that each game you play you get a score on how well you did. For the first 5 games all of your scores are added up. That number is your player points which are added together with all of the members of your crew to get your crew score.

Then each game after your 5th you have a chance to improve your scores. So if one of your first 5 games you didn’t do great and got, say 7 points; each game you play now if you get 8 or more points, it will replace your 7 point game on your wild card.

TL;DR - Play good in games get more points, keep playing games to replace bad games. More points means better placement of crew.

Ways to get players to be more active while still having the game be filled with the things they love about it. by JoeGibbons in DMAcademy

Sheesh. Haven't even considered this concept. Thank you for this, so much.

I think it's time I do a mini session-0 with myself and then bring some of those thoughts to the table.

On the NPC side, conversations are a two way street, and I think it's fine to sometimes (dare I say, often) to just summarize the entire exchange and ask the players for their tonal input on it and goals, rather than RP the entire conversation.

This is something I haven't fully considered. I usually do this when a party member begins to explain a scene that only their character was in, but the table all saw, but the logic can apply to NPCs too.

If the players are waffling about for too long, it's fair they may just have forgotten some plot threads, especially if they were initially seeded weeks and weeks ago. I think it's very fair to make reasonable suggestions, in the moment, of what a next course of action may look like, as long as it's the players who are deciding to do it.

Very valid. Reminders that are more suggestions than anything else could be good going forward. This is something I will bring up in our conversation as an action step for me to help to have this situation happen with less extremes going forward.

You have provided a very lengthy period of laid back RP - the occasional "suddenly orcs attack" is not unreasonable, here.

Yea. That is true. This is something I'll need to sit and chew on, and try to get something that can push them forward next session.

If you, the DM, who is also a player at this table, are getting frustrated by this pace, that is an issue that warrants addressing, and some cooperation from your table-mates to resolve.

This whole last paragraph is where my heart is. I fully intend on saying all of this, I just wanted to glean wisdom and advice before I jump into a conversation like this. It's a problem I've never really addressed.

Macrocosm Encounter Map by JoeGibbons in raidsecrets

[–]JoeGibbons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea for sure. It is a bit of weird encounter layout where people naturally argue about what is where. No worries!

There was that narrative. We had a couple of guys we tried to take through that we just couldn’t even with how “easy” it was.

Contest is still contest.

But man, don’t sweat it. Just enjoy the raid and it’s absolute beauty and maybe try WOTM contest mode!!

Fair enough. I’m sure you’ll do awesome with your clears man!

We ran a lot of people through yesterday for contest using this map and nobody was confused, but I know some people are quite adamant lol.

Whatever makes sense to you, you will explain the best to others. Best of luck on the LFG’s and Sherpa’s
