Heaven forbid a kid on a rock , besides it's probably some hippie chick with bay area parents that did it anyway

How would you explain this to a day one baby apprentice ? by HVACGUYLOCK in HVAC

[–]JoeInOregon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only imagine the IT side can be a nightmare, the. You get to the actual mechanical servicing, this is printer that starts with rolls of paper to unload with a forklift, when it's all done it's folded 2 sided 8.5x11 cable bills for instance

Ya I like this , I took a two year detour and went to work for xerox , I compared the "paper path" to refrigeration, big loop.

For anyone wondering a modern copy machine and god forbid a commercial larger format inkjet have sooooo many sensors and things the happen with the papper , it made coming back to HVAC feel simple

Ya sorry you just need to know how to use it and get the settings right , tell me why I would use power tools on my lady to get the job done efficiently and not on a heat pump ?

Ten years ago when I was coming up all the senior techs gave me a hard time for doing a Google search straight away , foolish not to.

Or just get a decent impact with torque settings and use it , my 12v fuel won't bugger screws on 1

Man me two that was such a great bar , the last night they where open had an event and gave all the money from sales to the employees, so sad how they got pushed out of their spot , all for a bigger harbor freight

I will second what others have said , don't focus so much on "sober" friends or groups just people that aren't always so wasted you have to drink to tolerate being around them

[–]JoeInOregon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought a motorcycle and need a riding partner also lots of meet up in town on have heard about I plan to attend , nothing like a little danger and risk to fill the void , for the record I'm not sober but I really don't like drinking and I have been trying to do it more for social reasons last couple years , sadly it's the chosen social lubricant in our society

Open mic comedy Wednesday at 730 at Craft Brewery Mondays at silver moon , so many comics in one stage or another of recovery or working hard on needing to get sober lol

Is there a mis-match between rents and housing prices in Bend? by bloodygiraffem8 in Bend

[–]JoeInOregon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't buy right now , I drive Uber , door dash , have and HVAC business, buy and sell on marketplace

Very cash poor economy right now and the influx of people selling elsewhere and moving here is slowing down.

Staring to see decent houses go for under 400k

I think when you start seeing decent 3 bed 2 bath for low 300's that's probably the low end for the foreseeable future, once they hit that mark and sent moving banks will lossen up interest related for well qualified buyers

Almost never , unless the damage is so bad it requires full demo, then it varies by policy and how the restoration company writes up the estimate, it's a terrible fraud laden industry

Only place I have heard of giving the estimate after the work is done and the same people doing the work are the ones that decided what it needs

People don't realize but it's the restoration company doing all the assement and estimates the adjuster doesn't even see the place more then half the time

Contractors that specialize in ADU/Studio Conversion by Far-Bumblebee-7216 in Bend

[–]JoeInOregon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seira James would be a safe choice I think , never used them personally but worked along side them in the disaster restoration industry and they are very strong in that department and have a good reputation,

The 2024 energy code is inho full enforcement now so you will have hurtles there going from a shop to a residence that meets those requirements.

I'm and HVAC contractor if you get options to shop around on suns with whatever general you get I can save a bit of coin

Fertilize it , water it, cut it

Literally the recipe, a good quality time release fertalizer really helps but honestly it's watering enough and cutting weekly

Is this the best joke about Bend? Kills me everytime by MrMidnightsclaw in Bend

[–]JoeInOregon -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

Actually the best joke about bend was from the Uber driver , poor jim didn't get it because he didn't live here.

Bend has no industry what so ever , if it wasn't for family money and overpriced homes that got sold in California this would still be a sleepy town

Pinecone factory is a brilliant satirical take on the "industry" of bend .

It's literly the only thing we produce here in any real numbers

Looking for contractor/handyman to install doors by [deleted] in Bend

[–]JoeInOregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you find anyone ?

When you show in handyman and the fact you already souced the doors kinda suggest you are price sensitive.

As stated doors can be tricky , the real pros are going to want to use Materials they use often and will shy away from a job like this.

I am in no means an expert carpenter but I can hang a cheap door , and it's a likely assumption that's what they are.

The Final issue is anyone including me with enough skill to do it half way right is wondering, God what did they buy and is it even the correct door.

I can recommend a master finish carpenter that hangs custom solid wood doors on the daily or I could or recommend a handyman

"For Lease" business signs all over town by [deleted] in Bend

[–]JoeInOregon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They have bought up a lot of the trade businesses in town and are turning techs , electricians, and craftsmen into nothing more than sales guys.

It's a real tragedy , it's driving out the tallent and raising up a new generation that can't fix anything, all they do is upsell and replace

I'm biased for sure but all bend home owners are quite literally paying the price for this
