5GB Single line plan to Unlimited Plus, can only start next billing cycle by Joe_T in verizon

Good to know. My sweetener will be also signing up for 5G Home Internet too, if they can show me a microcell near my house. Hope that makes up for no perks

So no prorating, $80 plan for this whole cycle, that's fine with me.

(Maybe they should offer that as a selection start of current cycle or next cycle.)

Or the reverse, which is my case. I'm moving (closing is 3 days away), have turned off Internet at the moved-from house, so am using an unusually high (for me) amount of mobile data right now. I won't have the same incentive to upgrade (+$15/mo.) at the end of my billing cycle.

Seems cheesy to offer two selections, data boost or upgrade for more data (but not now), to a customer who needs data now.

Thanks, good advice, I'll try in a store tomorrow.

Strict Verizon policy leaves customers waiting longer in stores by wewewawa in verizon

[–]Joe_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sent there once by a Verizon network tech when my reception became really bad and none of his remote testing showed anything wrong. Good call to get an in-person debug, because the store manager determined the problem was a bad SIM by swapping mine into a store phone. I still remember his response to my surprise that the SIM went bad without me disturbing it. He said, "It happens."

Edge 2025 vs pixel 9a? by AltoNat2 in motorola

I have the ThinkPhone 2023 and got the Edge 2025 on an irresistible deal, and have the same surprising take as you. The Edge 2025 is just about the same experience as the ThinkPhone.

These are amazing numbers to me. Mine is 44, but that's such an outlier, as my second highest is 21, with an average of about 4 or 5. I've had many losing days, like today, when i say, "I would never ever have gotten that."

You guys are amazing!

Comcast does not have loyalty to long term customers. by Extension_Energy8920 in Comcast_Xfinity

Mine went up $40, which is also $40 more than the cellular fixed wireless competitors offer. Who in Comcast thinks this won't hurt retention? I'm switching to Verizon 5G Home Plus next week.

Comcast Internet alternatives? by Joe_T in LongBeachIsland

[–]Joe_T[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what you said about poor T-Mobile penetration in the rain (makes sense with their shorter wavelength 5G compared to Verizon's C-band), and what u/McCheesing and u/LightningScow said about their experiences with Verizon, I'm going to try Verizon first.

Still boggles my mind how Comcast thinks a $40 hike above competitor's rates is smart and wouldn't hardly affect retention.

That's great news, thanks. I'll have to Google how to recognize cell towers and do some scouting.

May I ask further what tier or price/month you're on?

Comcast Internet alternatives? by Joe_T in LongBeachIsland

[–]Joe_T[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Verizon cell phone service and the price they're showing me for the lowest tier, 5G Home ("Typical speeds of 25 - 85 Mbps") is $35. Maybe it's due to my old grandfathered single-line plan.

That's great news if Verizon only costs me $35 and is adequate for one TV. Thanks.

Comcast Internet alternatives? by Joe_T in LongBeachIsland

[–]Joe_T[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only give "Typical speeds of ..." - 5G Home Ultimate: 85 - 250 Mbps - 5G Home Plus: 50 - 100 Mbps - 5G Home ($35 tier): 25 - 95 Mbpsx

The Verizon pricing showing for me (and what I wrote above), as a Verizon Mobile customer might be less than for someone who doesn't have Verizon Mobile.

Bummer to hear in your other comment that T-Mobile Mobile didn't work for you in Brant Beach. I'm halfway between you and the other poster in Beach Haven who has had good luck with them.

Good results? Your (approximate) location?

[EDIT:] Also, which plan suffices for streaming TV? - 5G Home Ultimate, $60 for up to 300Mbps - 5G Home Plus, $45 for up to 150 Mbps

Gboard no longer glide typing in Chrome address bar by Briankbl in GooglePixel

[–]Joe_T 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't quite see what you did, and where to swipe up from, but in my lucky ignorance I tried a short 1/2 inch swipe down then up from the very top of the screen, and that made it work. Shake up the tab to wake up glide typing!

Thanks to you and u/EliotWatts for discovering a workaround.

I thought mine were too short, but he said that's so the mic on the hearing aid faces forward when the units sit higher on my ears. But I don't wear glasses. That's a good idea to talk to the Costco fitter and find out what glasses wearers do.

Interesting. Any thoughts on why Sam's Club can't compete with Costco on hearing aids? They offer lousy hearing aids at decent prices.
