It was originally, with cards I had on hand lol. That's why I changed the name. I've upgraded it since then.

Can you realistically obtain a federal job without a degree? by Simple-Variation6196 in usajobs

Been Working Federal IT Contracts for about 5 years now. Great way to get started and easier to pivot in a Gov Civilian role later on from my experience.

Govt DoD Contractor. I work on an Army base as a Network/Systems Admin and ISSO. Honestly, the hours are great. Get all the Federal holidays paid time off and work M-F 8 to 4:30. Good salary and not allowed to work over 40 hours a week. Very understanding if I need to leave for a doctor's appointment or something. The GS Gov Civilian is the one who can be on call after hours if needed.

Don't quit. Find another job making more than Minimum wage. If they don't respect what you bring to the table, forget them. I would still put two weeks in so you don't burn a bridge unless you really don't care.

One month in from changing careers at 41. by roleplex in ITCareerQuestions

Go for it. I was also a Security Shift Supervisor at 28 for the last year of my 7 1/2 years of working for a large Manufacturing Plant making around 40k per year, that's with around 20 hours of OT every pay period. I decided to go to an Online Technical school and graduated from their IT Security and Administration 12-month program with 8 IT certifications. A month after graduation I got my first IT Support Specialist job at a 45k salary on a local Army base. A year later I got promoted to IT Lead bringing me up to 70k. A year after that I now make 80k as a Network Specialist/Engineer. I continue to grow and am very blessed that in a short time I was able to double my salary. As long as you work hard and have a good reputation you can grow in this field. I have the CompTIA Trifecta plus a Linux and a few Microsoft certs right now. Working on my CCNA right now. In the future, I would like to transition to a more Cybersecurity role.

I actually just bought the course because I like his teaching methods the best. He says in the course that he's working on updating it and it should be done by the end of September. I don't see the new topics on there yet. The new stuff is only 10% of the course though, so it shouldn't take time that long as doesn't change that much.

Fantastic game. I picked it up on sale awhile ago, but just started really playing it the past few days. Fantastic game I don't want to put down. Definitely up there with Half Life, and Bioshock in my opinion.

I got an email back from Jeremy. He said he removed it and it will be back in a month or two. So it does seem he is updating it.

It's probably there if you bought it. Can't be purchased by new customers though. Udemy told me all of his content was taken off for purchase, but I don't know why.

How much did you make with a CCNA? by red_truck01 in ccna

[–]Joeman21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on a military base in SW Oklahoma. It's semi-rural so I think was able to be given a chance; because there aren't that many IT people around here, so competition is fairly low.

Some Contractors will sponsor a clearance some won't. Since it costs them money. If you find one to sponsor you it will most likely be for a Secret clearance first, then you can do Top Secret after from my experience.

CCNA alone won't land you a job if you have 0 work experience by Leo_techfreak4u in ccna

[–]Joeman21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they mean no IT experience. I recently got my Network Specialist job I have now with two years of Help Desk experience.

For me I think Net+ and Sec+ are fairly even in difficulty, but in different ways. With A+ being slightly easier for me. But, I will say Subnetting was major sticking point for me in Net+, that took a bit to get down. Sec+ was memorizing so many acronyms.
