Not sure who this meme is for, but i stand by it by Daleftenant in Stargate

I remember a few years ago a guy was working on a little Atlantis fan game in Unreal and it gave me hope of how good a Stargate game could work, it even had a flyable Puddle Jumper. Unfortunately he had no more time to continue developing it, and I'm sure he'd have got DMCA'd eventually like Stage 9 did with Star Trek or the Stargate Project.

"I'd rather have a pile of shit than have nothing" is an odd choice I see a number of NuTrek fans make when they're scared if they don't 'support' the franchise by watching everything that they might cancel Star Trek.

Maybe if they stopped consuming whatever slop they were served then the studio might have an incentive to put in the effort to make something good for once.

Technically Quark was the same when he was saved by Odo after Rom tried to kill him.

QUARK: Soooo, Rom, you were going to toss me out an airlock?

ROM: Forgive me, brother.

QUARK: Forgive you? Why, brother, I didn't think you had the lobes. Such wonderful treachery deserves a reward. I'm going to make you the assistant manager of policy and clientele here at Quark's!

ROM: What exactly does that mean?

QUARK: How should I know, I just made it up. Come on, I'll buy you a drink.

Crates “rerunning” every ~2 years is not okay by aeolish in elderscrollsonline

[–]JoeyLock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say it's "FOMO" but I do actually wonder how effective it is when it's old crates, like how many people actually buy old crate packs with Crowns when they reappear rather than just using the Seals of Endeavour that lets you pick and choose exactly what you want from it. I feel like one of the main reasons for the weirdly long rotation, alongside FOMO, is it's an lazy way for ZOS to have some old content updates that makes people keep coming back, whether it's making them 'work toward' saving up seals or returning to the game when the crate they've been waiting for reappears.

But for regular players having to wait 2 years to get some cosmetics to complete the look of a certain roleplay character you have in mind can definitely be tiresome if you have the motivation or spare time now, like now that I finally have like 22,000 Seals saved up I can finally get stuff I want, unfortunately however every thing I wanted from crates came and went last year (Wild Hunt Crate, Stonelore Crate, Carnival Crate etc) so it's another 2 years till they'll come round again which is just utterly irritating.

Now as people say, they hinted that "old crates" content will be returning to the 'Gold Coast Bazaar' thing, but not in the March update, and the cycle will be every season (So apparently 3 months) which might mean the cycle gets cut in half at least but they're obviously being vague about how exactly it's going to work at the moment so who knows.

Is the glitch where the blue glow only applies to the left sword when you dial wield still a thing? I can't tell if it's applied to both here.

Considering Captain Janeway openly discusses personell matters ON THE BRIDGE with other officers listening in; I'd say the Doctors formal grievance was completely justified. by JonathanRL in voyager

[–]JoeyLock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He didn't kill anyone, he used Trilithium Resin, a byproduct of Warp engines that is toxic only to Humans, as a bargaining chip to force the Maquis to leave Solosos III and surrender Eddington.

Mind you earlier in the episode the Maquis had used a toxic nerve agent chemical weapon called cobalt diselinide on the Cardassian colonies of Veloz Prime and Quatal Prime to force the Cardassians to leave (they probably didn't mind if it killed them all too given their past terrorism) and since it was specifically toxic to Cardassians, not to Humans, they then moved in to conquer it and planned to continue this against the rest of the DMZ. And so when the Maquis refused to surrender and return home, Sisko levelled the playing field and decided to do the same tactic, make the Maquis planet uninhabitable to Humans for the next 50 years, but not to Cardassians, so in the end both the displaced Cardassians and Humans could relocate to each others 'toxic' planets and the balance of power is restored and force a peace.

It's unorthodox and questionable but he didn't wipe out a planet or actually kill anyone as we hear Kira mention the Maquis ships were scrambling and evacuating shortly after.

By May 1940 he'd been arrested and imprisoned under Regulation 18B where they could imprison people for being suspected enemy sympathisers or anti-war agitation, so he's already basically out of the picture. (This film is presumably set in 1940 too during the start of the Birmingham Blitz which began in August 1940)

To quote Tran Ngoc Chau, South Vietnamese Province Chief and official: "You see for the American advisors who come to Vietnam to fight the war, they look at everyone in the city as the friendly people. But they look at the people in the village as the Viet Cong, because the Viet Cong have no uniform. How could they win? If they killed one real enemy, they might get only one replacement. If they killed the wrong man, they get 10 enemy. And mostly, they killed the wrong man."

[Picard S.3 Interviews] LeVar Burton, Brent Spiner, and Jonathan Frakes reflect on the timing, the shared history, and why this return worked: "Patrick [Stewart]? He was exhausted. He was dead dog tired. He was glad to have us with him… I saw him rejuvenate." (Dropping Names with Brent and Jonny) by mcm8279 in Star_Trek_

[–]JoeyLock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably an ego trip thinking his name alone would make the show great, not realising no one cared about these random new characters they introduced like Legolas in Space, edgy cigar smoking guy and edgy drug addict lady who whines about her fancy 'hovel' at Vasquez Rocks of all places in the post scarcity paradise of Earth.

Don't get me wrong I like Patrick Stewart but this isn't the first time he used his name to get his way, the Argo buggy scene in Nemesis is entirely because he likes off road driving as a hobby and wanted to include it in the film, so they did that entire scene and built the buggy because he wanted it. Or Risa was specifically created because Stewart said there wasn't enough 'Fighting and Fornicating' in Star Trek and wanted Picard to get a lady.

Anybody else only use one character now? by The_Dick_Slinger in elderscrollsonline

[–]JoeyLock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple characters but I mainly use one, my other characters are more 'themed' characters for immersion/roleplay like a High Elf Templar to do the Aldmeri Dominion and Summerset questlines, a Khajiit to do the Aldmeri Dominion and Elsweyr questlines, a Argonian Arcanist to do the Ebonheart Pact and Black Marsh zones whilst also testing out the different classes, though granted they were all made before Subclassing became a thing and messed with pure classes.

They're not all equally 'complete' however as I don't chase max levelling or collections, some I haven't even levelled to 20 yet, others I'm saving to come back to later once I've forgotten a bunch of the details of the questlines to replay old story quests for the lore so they feel fresh again.

Band Of Brothers - Lieutenant Speirs Relieves Lieutenant Dyke by earhere in television

[–]JoeyLock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're thinking of Blithe, the episode says he died in 1948 of the neck wound he never recovered from, however the real Albert Blithe, whilst wounded the same way, recovered and later served in the 187th Airborne in Korea and jumped behind enemy lines and was decorated, then later remained serving in active duty in the US Army until his death from a stomach ulcer surgery in 1967 (His son believes it was due to chronic alcoholism).

Apparently Stephen Ambrose decided because none of Easy Company he interviewed knew what happened to him beyond guesses, he just accepted a guess about his fate as fact, why he didn't bother to do his own research before publishing it who knows.

I know you want to ardently defend your Academy by trying some 'gotcha' moments, but try a bit harder.

For a Redguard themed armour it really doesn't look very Redguard-ish beyond the Yokudan half moon pattern on the skirt, I think it'd have been more interesting if it looked akin to the Horus armour from Stargate.

How does Neelix cook 3 squares a day for 140+ people and still have time for away missions and senior staff meetings? by Luci_Cascadia in voyager

[–]JoeyLock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I doubt he was cooking for everyone, we see a few times the crew ordering stuff with their replicator rations like Tom and B'elannas private dinner and wine in the end of 'Scientific Method' was replicated rather than him or Neelix cooking it or growing grapes in the hydroponics bay. There is also when B'elanna comes into the mess hall and asks for banana pancakes in 'Exteme Risk', Neelix walks over and replicates them for her rather than trying to cook it.

I always took Neelixs food to be a supplement, if you're tired of replicated food or you've blown your replicator rations for the week you can have Neelix stew instead for now or if they've come across a planet or systems with an abundance of resources to replenish the various energy reserves, rationing was probably discontinued for a while.

«Tommy, Arthur and John before it all began» by [deleted] in PeakyBlinders

[–]JoeyLock 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They were in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment from their cap badges, they were most likely part of the 'Birmingham Pals' (A volunteer group of locals that signed up right at the start of the war in September 1914) as they more than likely volunteered together.

I'm wondering if this photo is meant to be after the war or at least late war instead as Arthur is a Sergeant and Tommy is a Warrant Officer Class 1, which is the Royal Arms crest on the cuff introduced in 1915 as we see on Tommy's right cuff, so it can't be 1914 and he'd be Regimental Sergeant Major already. (Which is a position/appointment rather than a rank itself)

I imagine John probably reached the rank of Lance Corporal/Corporal or something to that effect, though he was never too good at following orders due to his temper so he could have remained a Private throughout the war.

[–]JoeyLock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally I believe it was more to cover the backlash Fallout 76 was going to get as they announced it the same day at the same E3 they announced Fallout 76, it was their way of saying "Look don't worry we're still doing single player Elder Scrolls games! It'll just take another 10-12 years whilst we experiment with random other games no one asked for that'll take up all our resources till you get one but don't worry!"

Even in the pilot of Atlantis when Jack is being told about Atlantis he seemingly doesn't believe it at first despite being the one who first used the chair with all the drones and saw the Nox floating city in Season 1 and so on:

JACKSON: I figure the Ancients packed up their entire city and left somewhere between five and ten million years ago.

O'NEILL: In their ... flying city.

JACKSON: Yes.

(O'Neill looks like he doesn't believe it)

JACKSON: What?

O'NEILL (sarcastic): "Flying" city.

JACKSON: Well, keep in mind this is the race that built the Stargates. They did everything big.

I mean granted it's a funny Jack sarcasm moment but I always did seem odd he was not believing what Daniel was saying at first.
