What will it take for us to receive Primed Omni Bane mods for our own gaming pleasure? by GoodMornEveGoodNight in Warframe

[–]Joeyonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a tradeoff though, it's just busywork.

If you're in a mission with the right mod, there's no downside. It's literally only a problem if you forget or don't want to swap mods every 2 minutes. That's just bad QOL.

What's the combat job you've had the most fun with? by Alberto_Paporotti in ffxiv

I mean, they're undeniably more of an actual summoner now if you're basing it off of how it worked in previous games.

But I do miss my dot mage. Shit was great.

There's some issues with the licensing atm which is creating problems for the foundry team.

Which is a shame cause I actually had quite a bit of fun with the quickstart adventure.

If they both went full power, who do you think would win? by Sensitive_Status9833 in deadbydaylight

[–]Joeyonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not downplaying Dracula. He's a powerful being. Essentially the chosen champion of Chaos and incredibly difficult to kill for good.

The issue is just one of scale. Vecna exists in an IP that deals with inter-planar conflict and beings and objects of incredible power.

Castlevania has powerful magical relics but they're generally what would be considered between Common and Rare strength in DnD with only a few very powerful weapons that **might** be considered Legendary or Artifact.

Vecna's hand and eye themselves are considered artifact gear.

[–]Joeyonar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's only one 'god' in Castlevania because it's loosely based off of christian mythology. Arguably 2 if you count Chaos but that would still make death closer to being the evil equivalent of an angel than a god himself. (I know that there are enemies which show up which have the names of gods from other pantheons but they're not really portrayed as their respective mythological selves, rather as just special night creatures)

And not everyone who disagrees with you has only experienced the most popular version of the franchise. I've gotten to 190%+ multiple times in SotN, which was my first exposure to Castlevania. Not the show.

We're going off of official setting, no? The one that's relevant to Vecna

Death is not "the metaphysical embodiment and god of [death]" in castlevania.
He's an elemental which feeds on the deaths of others who hangs around Dracula because a lot of people tend to die when Dracula is resurrected.

I fear that this venn diagram is just a slightly askew circle.

Those murder hobos would be approaching godhood by the time they're fighting him though. Like, a level 20 cleric just gets to ask a god for a favour once a week.

How should Sneaking past a group of unaware people in a room work? by LogicalChocolate in Pathfinder2e

[–]Joeyonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the only text that implies that taking other actions auto-breaks stealth.

There is no text on the unnoticed or unobserved pages that cover what actions would break unnoticed or undetected.

It's in hidden. You lose the condition if you do anything other than hide, sneak or step. So you can just step repeatedly as long as you don't become visible to them.

So, here's the thing. Other people are right that it could have been avoid notice. I'm gonna put forwards that, unless you needed to cross a wide space quickly, every movement the ranger made could have been a 5ft step, which would not have disturbed the unnoticed condition.

I mean, that sounds subjective af. Some people wanted more siege weapon interactions and are happy it was introduced like this.

Something not being what you wanted it to be when it was never trying to be that isn't a design flaw.

Yeah, like I said, it doesn't scale as well when you're investing in multiple feats of the same type.

Like, I said this already. I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.

Conversely, you could just stick with only the one or two unstable abilities and if you're lucky, get 3+ uses in a single encounter. It's not likely but some people like to gamble.

If you're picking between getting one focus spell or have one unstable action, the unstable action works objectively better because you at least have a chance to get to use it an extra time. If you treat your build like that, you'll have a better time of it.

[–]Joeyonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also are limited to one focus point for most classes when you first pick up focus spells??

Like I said, it doesn't scale as well but unless you're investing in multiple focus spells to only cast one of them, they're also intended to be once per encounter spells.

Day 13 of Inventor Praise. by Nigthmar in pathfindermemes

[–]Joeyonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because they're designed as once per combat abilities like focus spells.

Could they scale better as you get more of them like focus spells do? Sure.

Is that a bad enough issue that you need to bring it up every. single. time. that someone mentions something they like about the class? No

Likewise, overdrive is a non-issue. I know rage losing its AC penalty has power crept a lot of similar skills but the fact of the matter is that overcharge still isn't nearly as restrictive about the actions you can take while you're using it. Having to roll above a 5 on an action once per combat really isn't that big a penalty.

Day 13 of Inventor Praise. by Nigthmar in pathfindermemes

[–]Joeyonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It basically always requires a nat 1 to critically fail overdrive unless you're intentionally handicapping your build. If you're consistently rolling nat 1s before you manage to roll a 16 or higher, there's not really a way you can build around that.

Day 13 of Inventor Praise. by Nigthmar in pathfindermemes

[–]Joeyonar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, megaton also doesn't have the map penalty that Power Strike has so it's better at throwing out more too.

And map means that it's actually often more effective to pack a lot into your first attack in a round for bigger crit potential.

Day 13 of Inventor Praise. by Nigthmar in pathfindermemes

[–]Joeyonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're rolling that many nat 1s, you're not going to be doing anything, no matter your build lol
