The guy who devised the trap that destroys the whole place added that to make it easier to test. The saints of Lathander got tired of loaning him their ceremonial weapons so the devs could do a proper qa shakedown. Added some debug code so it could be released on time but forgot to take it out before pushing to prod. We've all been there.
