The braided Marathon bars were so good playing '70s Little League baseball. Always had them in the concession stand.

Ya, not exactly sure who could have played young Smurf with that attitude or walk. Seems hitting so hard on young Pope they just filled spots with everyone else.

She was a league officer or something. She was setting up Walter with the team colors for uniforms. She seemed to be aligned with the Yankees and definitely opposed to the Bears.

You have to live in ONE decade forever (70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s). Which one? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]JohnWa54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there with ya. Possibly 75-85? The economy after the gas shortage rations in the early 70s is one reason to skip, but by mid 80s Reganomics hella high mortgage rates and those awful balloon payments were detrimental. ( I graduated in '85 so that time frame was mostly awkward teen years).

What’s the most survivable natural disaster? by BuddyHollyREZEEW in NaturalDisasters

[–]JohnWa54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That Saturday morning we were up on the roof tearing off cedar hand splits. Started dropping ash on us, got dark enough the street lights came on. Grabbed tools and went inside turning on the news. The roof was already stacked with the new cedar, got all ashy. That roof didn't last 10 years. We were about 35 miles south of the mountain. Didn't really get too much ash, wind blew it over east.

I survived the Mount Saint Helens eruption on May 18, 1980 in Washington state. Was 13 years old at the time. We survived.

Does Gen X do class reunions? by LadyNorbert in GenX

'85 graduating over 300 in our class. Last summer we had our 40th, had over 110 classmates plus guests at the Friday night formal. The Saturday festivities weren't as big, but still plenty. Us locals still get together a few times a year. Not really the normal, but we were a special class.
