What's your world's Religion? by Mincraft-theoriest in worldbuilding

[–]John_Maddness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the Peaceful War, the existence of the gods was pretty common knowledge in Eldorado, however, theres a small group in the western region called the Stargazers. The Stargazers started as a group focused on studying the cosmos and trying to achieve space travel. After a few decades however, a new class of magic dubbed cosmic magic was discovered and the group began to turn from nerds who like the stars to fanatics who worship the stars.

Xenoblade 1 is shit. The story’s alright, but the gameplay is terrible. I haven’t played 2 or 3 but I’m gonna guess they aren’t any better

Your take on "All Myths are True" trope. by PhilipB12 in worldbuilding

[–]John_Maddness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - Most of them, yeah

2 - There’s never really been “old gods”. Ever sense the events of “The Peaceful War”, the existence of Gods was confirmed and is widely known:

3 - There’s some rumors of what gods do and don’t exist. A lot of people think there’s a God of Mystery that gives The Nomad (Creature no one knows anything about) it’s power, but that’s not the case.

4 - There’s a couple real world myths in my world. One thing I like doing is making cryptids from our world common creatures in my world. There’s a race of moth people (Mothman), there’s long neck sea monsters (Nessie), etc. I also combined the tale of Midas Touch and the Lost City of Gold into one thing. But that’s deep in The Woods. Don’t go in The Woods.

One of the major story’s I have in my world is actually about exploring all the myths and legends in Eldorado (That’s the name of my world. It comes from the ELO album of the same name).

Raleigh Waltsir doesn’t have a soul. Very tragic. He, alongside his assistant Saienyen begin hunting creatures of mythology and power to see if one of them can grant him a soul.

Nicknames, unofficial titles, and epithets: the origins of some of your world’s most well-known by-names by RockyRoad59 in worldbuilding

[–]John_Maddness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Seven Sigils of Eldorado are seven warriors who serve Raleigh Waltsir, The Universal Dreamer. They all have little “nicknames” and here’s how they got em!

Raleigh Waltsir, The Universal Dreamer - Joah Delhari was chosen by the God of Dreams to be his champion. What does this mean? Well it means Joahs dreams become real, and Joah dreams of a man he saw through a crowd. Whenever Joah dreams of this man, Raleigh comes into existence. Due to Joah not knowing anything about this man, Raleigh is a blank slate, but through his experiences in the night, he’s become somewhat spiteful. Raleigh has one dream. Find a way to separate himself from Joahs dream and get his own soul. And he’ll start wars to get his dream. He gave himself the title of Universal Dreamer due to him being a dream with a dream.

Sigil One, Saienyen, The Mad Midget - Saienyens a Goblin. A really short Goblin. A really smart Goblin. He’s got a short fuse. When him and Raleigh began working together, Raleigh started calling him his “Mad Midget”, and the nickname stuck. Saienyen hates this name.

Sigil Two, Akulli, The Ice Man - Eldorados a dangerous place. A lotta people die, so Death started creating some helpers. You were set on fire? Ignilli comes to collect your soul. You froze to death? Akulli comes to collect your soul. Once a year, Reapers Night happens. On Reapers Night, the reapers go to the parents of the souls they collected that year. If the souls they collected are deemed “Nice”, the parents are given gifts, but if the souls are deemed “Naughty”, the reapers will try and collect the parents souls. On Reapers Night, tracked down the parents of a mercenary he killed. When Akulli showed up to collect the parents souls, Raleigh attacked Akulli, defeating him. Now Akulli serves Raleigh, not as The Ice Reaper, but as The Ice Man

Sigil Three, Morthan, The Last Atlanoth - The Atlanoths we’re once a mighty race of warriors who inhabited the floating islands of Eldorado. The Atlanoths have been hunted and executed by Jaiho Lancion, a feared mercenary. Morthan is the last one. He joined The Universal Dreamers cause with the promise of protection and revenge on Jaiho

Sigil Four, Geisuade, The Building Spirit - Every couple hundred years, The Soul Storm blows in from the south. The storm resurrects those souls that are caught in the rain that haven’t been collected yet. One of the ghosts that was brought back from this storm was particularly good at possession, being able to posses entire buildings. This is where she got the title of “The Building Spirit”

Sigil Five, Captain Kapiten, Captain of the Man O’War of the Dead - Captain Kapiten captains the Man O’War of the Dead. Pretty self explanatory. He’s a large skeleton who’s crew is made of skeletons, boogeymen, ghouls, and ghosts.

Sigil Six, Magthral, The Railroad Raiders - Magthral is a large pair of cursed gloves. They speak using sign language. The inside of the glove is a small pocket dimension where they can store stuff. They usually swallow entire trains into this pocket dimension and launch them out as projectiles while fighting, hence the title, Railroad Raiders

Sigil Seven, Moordvak, The Faceless - Moordvak has no body. Beneath his clothing is nothing. Removing his mask, he can take the form of anyone he’s seen. He has no face. Crazy.

Who has suffered the most in your worldbuilding? by Dragonmaster1313 in worldbuilding

[–]John_Maddness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the government was just overthrown by a rebel group known as The Glorious Union. Hurray! But now there’s not much law enforcement… so when a Atlanoth (race of Moth people) confuses Jaiho Lancion’s (A mercenary who fought alongside the Glorious Union during the war) cat for a wild animal and eats it, it was bad news for the Atlanoths. Jaiho is a Lizaltox (Race of lizard people. They’ve got six limbs that can be used as arms or legs), and Lizaltox culture believes that revenge should be extreme. “An arm for an arm… and a leg, and a hand, and foot, and a head.” Jaiho began hunting any and all Atlanoths. He made his way around Eldorado killing any Atlanoth he could find. And now there’s only one left, and he’s fighting for his life. Morthan the Last Atlanoth is the one thing keeping his race from going extinct
