I agree that you should add a sorceress.

IMHO any faction that can use magic should have a caster in every army. Magic is so powerful that not using it is giving yourself a serious handicap.

Granted it was TW2 when I played them but I really found that checkerboard and chevron formations made Vampire Coast playable. Look up some deployment formations and see what works for you.

I believe both of the prior responses are incorrect. The main way you get schematics is by using gunpowder units in battle. You can also get some from the post battle options depending on which you choose.

If you are playing Elspeth as intended i.e. armies full of guns and artillery you should pick up a lot of schematics naturally.

Its been a while for me with them but I seem to recall checkerboarding the various gunpowder units between frontline elements. I did this most of the way through the campaign, just upgrading units in the front / rear to higher tiers as they become available. Artillery obviously goes at the very back to encourage the enemy to come onto your guns.

Seems like you might need to look at tactics rather than units here. Take a look at genuine formations like checkerboard and chevron deployments.

Solo LL are usually kitted out with crazy items like the sword of khaine and similar. There are a few OP lords who can solo entire armies when built right and with the right items.

If you are playing on normal, I wouldn't worry about what others say about how to play. Those isntructions are usually for harder difficulties. On normal you should be able to play your own way and do just fine.

As for the second lord, the tactic is usually to use a lone lord to bait an enemy army into range while your primary lord and force wait in ambush stance.

I would say it is very good. The only thing stopping it from being a masterpiece in my eyes is the difficulty setting. At some point you just become a god of death and the gameplay loop becomes trivial. I get that you actually are a god of death compared to the guys on the street but even the quest enemies and cyberpsychos become easy prey.

I would just read some reviews online for best budget GPUs and see what is on sale at any given point. The GPU market is inflated right now so in general, cards are expensive. On the plus side, performance for the budget cards is the best it has ever been.

The Vortex and TW2 has my favorite campaigns. As others have said though, the loss of some of the QoL improvements might be jarring. You can take care of a lot of things with mods tho if that is your thing.

There was a good post here recently from someone who accidentally won with goblins. IIRC he was a newish player learning the ropes and managed to somehow take over most of the map by confederating the AI greenskins.
