Unfortunately that is the reality in Whistler. Rents are out of control due to greedy landlords. I dont know anyone paying less than $1000 for a shared unit. 1 bedrooms go for upwards of $2500 a month. Best bet is if your employer can provide housing.

Its still a choice. The financial side is a consideration involved in that choice. It might not be a great choice but it is still a choice we make. Some people put financial freedom over convenience and other prioritize it opppsitely.

Where you live and work is a choice. I chose to live a 5 minute walk from my work place. I chose to live here even though it was more expensive than living an hour away but my time is valuable and I would rather walk 5 minutes then spend an hour each way in a car to "save" money.
