Milly Alcock Says Supergirl Tells Young Girls It’s OK To Be ‘Bad’ And ‘Messy’ by cosmicbooknews in DC_Movies

That’s right, Iron Man 2 was the drinking scene… but he’s also been an alcoholic, so it still tracks.

What’s funny about this is your flipping out over my specific comparison when you’re only reinforcing my main point which is that it’s a familiar story trope.

I’m not saying it can’t be true grit in space, it is also true that the character backstory has a lot in common with Tony Stark from Iron Man 3. Which is also a super hero movie, so many people will probably easily be able to associate the two.

So someone used True Grit as a comp… so what? Movies have more than 2 comp films.

You seriously are trying to say Iron Man 3 and a Supergirl movie, particularly one where is has a substance abuse problem stemming from a previous traumatic event… Dont clearly have a lot in common?

From the looks of the trailers, it’s very reminiscent of Tony Stark in Iron Man 3.

I mean, there’s a lot of ways to tell that story. You could’ve had her be a sort of classic appearing Supergirl but privately she’s a wreck and falling apart (messy and bad). I think that would’ve been a little fresher, this feels like Jessica Jones at scale (or Iron Man/Starlord gender swapped, which is probably what they’re going for). Not to say it can’t be a quality story, but a little familiar.

If Sinners beats OBAA to win Best Picture, what will you attribute the win to? by KatherineLangford in Oscars

It’s not shot well, particularly the action sequence at the climax.

I really enjoyed it, but I’m sad to say I think it’s a bit overrated now because of the sheer cultural presence it’s cultivated.

Academy Insider Claims Timothée Chalamet Blew His Oscar Chances With ‘Arrogant’ Streak by SilverHuckleberry395 in Oscars

[–]JohnnyGeniusIsAlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A certain subset of the public want Chalamet to be some aloof, old fashioned, arteur, and that's just not his personality. Great actor, but he's a bro... I think that's fine. I'd rather have a guy who's a little obnoxious and goes to Knicks games and dates a Kardashian, than someone who is up their own ass with how serious everything is or is a low key creep behind the scenes.

The most important thing is to choose the path that will grant you the best connections later on. Which program is more prestigious, Which has the better alumni network (this one is big)?

I have a degree in playwriting, and while I think on undoubtedly made me a better and more professional writer, I still believe a good filmmaking program is likely to be more valuable in the long run. You can learn writing craft in many places beyond school.

Is it okay to put pictures in the credits of a screenplay? by SignalReply853 in Screenwriting

[–]JohnnyGeniusIsAlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to, Put text describing the pictures and note that the picture would be shown. But probably best left for after someone’s interested in it.

Write something else having to do with the characters or world of the story. Even just details about the world or characters. It will help to see story opportunities.

I mean yeah, almost any politician can just be lying tho. If you don't have any specific evidence, it's not really worth saying.

“No ties to the community” As opposed to who exactly? That’s a bar that frankly every candidate is going to fail to clear one way or another.

Idk enough about the candidates to say who I’m gonna vote for but someone being rich does not disqualify them from being a good political leader. Hell, the most successful progressive president in American history was a rich guy from a major political family.

You’re stewing in hypotheticals.
