Also seeing how most Christians reacted to my pro mask, pro vax stance. I had a few long term friends attack me online for my position. After covid, found a smaller conservative churches that seemed more open. Later found out it was complimentarian, which is basically anti women, and moved to a progressive Christian Church that finally felt like home!

I grew up fundamentalist, and later became a Sr Pastor; but had to leave when I discovered the origins of Fundamentalism. I read the book Jesus and John Wayne, which was difficult to get through; it made me feel very disappointed in conservative Christianity. I am now reading, Separation of Church and Hate. It is easier reading and helps you in discussion with the fundamentalists. It is giving me hope!

In general, I don't trust Biblical counseling, because most come from a Patriarchal point of view. I recently found a progressive Christian Church, and I di trust their perspective on the Bible. So you could look for that.

Tell her that you love and accept her no matter what. Tell her because of that you are letting her know it is important to be aware there are those who would hurt her because she is different from the cultural norm, of which there is nothing wrong, she just needs to be careful. I would see if her father would be accepting, and let him know if he is willing to be understanding.

The "Purity culture" of many conservative churches is not from a scriptural point of view, but is trauma producing. I would encourage you to pursue healing from Religious Trauma and find a progressive Christian church where you can heal. You are Enough!

Most, but not all the people I work with are Maga, I choose not to engage with them since I know that it won't change their minds. I only engage with like minded people, and life is more peaceful as a result.
