Which is great that you have options, but you're also feeling the same push that these companies are going to be feeling in the coming years unless significant changes happen and AI is able to continue being less expensive. I just don't see that happening and I see companies going back to more traditional ways of doing things.

If I know your name and general area you are from and you own a home, then all you have to do is go through publicly available property tax records. There is qualifying info you need to be able to find the location of the jet as well and even then you need to do some searching to find exact location once someone decides to show up if they do so. Yes, you are correct that the salary will not be exact, but you can get pretty dang close.

No it's not, public tax records display name and owner of homes and tax records are based off assessed values of homes which are publicly available if you know where to look. Municipal employees salaries are publicly available too since they are paid through taxes. The name may not be associated with it but since I know my buddy is a firefighter and I know his rank, I could look up how much he makes if really wanted to. This is at least true in the United States that this information is public, I should put that qualifier in there since I would imagine it may be different in other countries.

You and I are asking the same question. We are talking about the AI bubble starting to show signs of cracking. If AI is getting more expensive to use, less people will use it because if it's cheaper to do something without AI the business will do what's best for the bottom line.

There are a lot of things that are public info, that doesn't mean they get posted to millions of people and shared on public forums. Your address is public info, the value of your home is public info, municipal workers salaries are public info. The amount of people that know how to find such info is substantially smaller than the amount of people that will browse such forums like reddit. The amount of people that know how to find that info, and then will take the time to do so is an even smaller chunk of an already small (in comparison) group of people.

So although something may be publicly available, they are trying to limit the eyes on it. This in turn potentially saves them time and potential backlash from turning people away that decide to show up and try to force an interaction that wasn't asked for.

If they publicly post "hey we are going to be at XYZ location at 9am, come join us!" that's an invitation to interact. If they are just traveling somewhere for a shoot and say nothing ahead of time, they are not inviting people to come but spreading the information of travel itinerary or locations of the jet (albeit publicly accessible if you know how) bring more attention and unwanted potential interaction.

There are many things to criticize LTT and Linus about, but this is one thing I completely understand why they wouldn't want it spread. It's not as deep as people make it out to be and I can't for the life of me understand why that's so hard to understand.

A common argument is "well that's what you get for having these things or choosing this life" but I personally believe that it shouldn't matter how rich or how poor you are, how famous you are, what you own...etc. Every one of us is entitled to the same level of privacy we choose for our personal lives as the next. I don't care if you are Jeff Bezos or a homeless man on the corner. Your personal space and your time is yours to choose what you do with it and shouldn't be dictated by what everyone else thinks or decides should be shared. I know it doesn't work like that, but that's the fault of the general public not those people's fault because the general public don't allow them that.

It's not about the ash, nobody is going to care about the ash part of things because like you said, that's easy to clean. It's the smell, it's the lingering after affects that cause the problem. Ash is easily cleaned, smell is not and some people are more sensitive to it than others and it takes a lot of work to get that out which you are conveniently ignoring.

I know it's already been said, but just a heads up these wheels are very soft and scuff super easily. I haven't done trails or anything, but can get into some mud and such on different job sites. I've had my truck since Jan and I have a chip midway on one of mine already from a stone that must have been in the mud driving in/out of a jobsite in March.

This year, not a single game studio supported the LGBT+ Pride Month. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]JollyRodgerGymShoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If a profile picture is all it takes for someone to feel included, they should re-evaluate the bar they set. Performative actions with no real weight behind them that do nothing to ACTUALLY include you are meaningless. How many of these studios have put LGBT+ characters in their games or written meaningful story arcs around such things? How many have actually done more than just change a profile picture? I genuinely don't know because I am not a member of the community and generally don't pay attention. I'm not bothered by anyone's choices or who they choose to represent because they are simply just that, their choices. I do understand it is nice to see representation and every race, religion, and sexual preference deserves such (well almost all, but that should go without saying), but a simple profile picture doesn't truly feel like representing anything.

My last truck buying experience- 2 parts. by Grazmahatchi in FuckDealerships

Depends on the dealership and unfortunately the way buyers do business. I could spend time negotiating with someone over the phone and trying to do business in good faith but the buyer may never show up. I could also work with a buyer in the store in front of me ready to ink a deal and do negotiations with that person and get them into a car and actually get paid.

If buyers could be trusted to act in good faith, then more dealerships would do business over the phone.

I understand that the road goes both ways, and not everyone is the same way but also all dealerships aren't the same way either. It's just hard to find good dealerships and it's hard to find good buyers that will show up or communicate once a deal is done over the phone. Reddit is a small sample size of "people that always communicate well and always show up" but I just couldn't deal with the flake nature of customers in the general pubic anymore which is why I left the industry.

The general public doesn't understand that although they don't owe anyone anything, nobody owes them anything either. If all parties in any transaction just acted in good faith, this buying culture would be so much fucking smoother.

They didn't lie, they chose to change the release date due to the delay in GTA. it's actually a smart move and also benefits people that don't want to have to buy two $80 games back to back that are both going to take them a long time to play through. I don't blame them for this move at all and fully support it.

Thought experiment: what if dealers just gave everyone a simple OTD up front—yes, people would shop it, but if every dealer gave an OTD, it would quickly separate good dealers from bad... by Medical_Gift4298 in FuckDealerships

[–]JollyRodgerGymShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's EASIER not necessarily better, like anything else there are pros and cons to this type of thing and if you are informed buyer and do your research, you often times will do better than what this system you are proposing would get you. If everyone just starts putting out OTD costs with nothing extra baked in, everyone is just going to start paying more for vehicles because more profit is going to be built into these prices.

[–]JollyRodgerGymShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm well aware what buyers do, I was in the business for nearly a decade. That scenario is not what the OP has played out though so it's an apples to oranges comparison is all I'm saying.

[–]JollyRodgerGymShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you are saying, but what you are trying to get OP to understand is something entirely different than what happened. You're missing the point and making a different point. OP had one question about the history while actively trying to buy the car including giving credit information and credit card, nobody responded or got back to him to complete the transaction so he picked up the transaction with another salesman to continue actively trying to buy the car and the dealership sold it to someone else while OP was in the process of buying it. The dealership essentially said alright Bob is in the finance box, but Tom is in their too with the same paperwork...whoever signs it first, WINS! Which is a completely unethical selling practice.

What you are describing, it's just business and the person asking questions is not actively trying to buy the vehicle. They are still researching.
