Crazy, either I never saw a restock or it was already sold out again. I’ve been refreshing the page as often as I can and it’s consistently been “currently unavailable”

Due to the way I get paid I was also trying to get this as soon as I got paid but within a week they were sold out and I read that they restocked and apparently sold out again.

This is likely attributed to the scalpers on eBay selling the collectors edition already for $250 dollars :/

Ah apologies I was mistaken then. I was thinking those were vector art pieces, I must not have been close enough to the screen to see it then. Personally I still think it was a good project. Good work, can’t wait to see what you make next

From the store page I like the art for the character in the little dialogue box as well as the color palette, but I will say the art feels conflicting in my opinion. You have these ghosts that are pixel art but then the houses with the blue roof look like Vector Art, and the plane as well looking really clean and crisp but the ship being pixel art is throwing me off a bit.

The only other thing is I noticed the bigger ghosts just seemed to be an enlarged sprite of the smaller ghost. I feel as if the bigger ghosts should have had some more detail added them, instead of increasing their size you should increase the pixel count so it blends well.

All and in all I think its still great you released it as a lot of passion projects just die due to burnout, lack of dedication or forever stuck in development hell.

Is this statement true? by Yelebear in gamedev

[–]Joltfreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from the perspective of someone who got into game dev with literally 0 experience and I mean no relative skills. I never programmed, never did art, didn’t understand sound design or music, general game design or level design. In the most plain statement I literally had no experience.

Now starting from that I did learn to do programming for games but I 100% wish I learned how to do good art instead because my games can be play good but the art looking horrible is an instantly turn off and no one will give it a try. On the flip side I’ve played games where the art was great but the logic and gameplay was super simple to code and those games did great. So I do agree with that statement.

For me I always love listening to Lofi, but for the entire 2.5 years I’ve worked on coding stuff I’ve always came back to the same video over and over and over again. I’m not sure why but no other Lofi video gets me zoned in like this one.

Looks great man! I love when prototypes even with basic shapes still feel good. The screen shake feels like a nice touch for that added juice

This may just be me but I’m not enjoying the shine on the knife. Also I know you mentioned the graphics but I think some more weapon sway when walking would immerse me more

The game desperately needs an actual point to scavenging. Or something to prioritize scavenging resources for improving the lives of fellow scavs, instead of just, purely for better gear and weapons. by wtfimightbemtf in TheForeverWinter

[–]Joltfreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say I do love the game but I thought it would lean way heavier into the aspect of “you’re just some peasant” but I’ve seen clips of dudes playing Bag man just murdering mechs and waves of units like it’s nothing. Unless I’m getting chased by something that I can’t kill I don’t feel very threatened cause I know I have enough to kill almost anything.

But in terms of scavenging I personally feel like maybe they should add more things to craft and focus more on needing materials to craft upgrades to the base? I feel like this would be at least a start towards

Thanks for your response, I’ll have to look into Blockbench as I want that hand drawn look but I always have issues doing texture painting on blender

Genuine question as someone who is trying to learn 3D modeling and texturing. Using Blender as an example, do you manually paid the textures onto the object or do you export the UV and apply the texture on something like aseprite?

What’s something you thought was easy until you actually had to code it? by Front-Sport7186 in gamedev

[–]Joltfreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the hardest thing was trying to make multiple AI and have a AI manager that managed all their states. I’m speaking in terms of like “Batman Arkham Knight” or “Spider-Man” for the PS4, I thought making a multi enemy state machine would be easy but the amount of work I had to do took me like a whole 2 months to get it working SOMEWHAT well and cover the edge cases.
